Need a visa for UK and Europe

By SM&LP in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

Hi,

I am planning to go to Europe and UK. For the visa for Europe I will have to go in person for an interview and show my green card. But the one for UK is getting me nervous. They want me to sent by mail my green card to prove my legal residency in the US, but I am supposed to have with me all the time!

Has someone done this before? I have search and I dont find anything like that.

I have no idea about those requirements, but I would never send my greencard, only copies!!!!

They want the original!

EVIDENCE OF IMMIGRATION STATUS

You must submit proof of your immigration status in the USA and permission to re-enter the USA after your trip. Please submit original documents.

Examples include:

* Permanent Resident Card

* Valid US visa (e.g., H1B, F1)

* Advance Parole Document

* Employment Authorization Card (does not permit re-entry to US

* Valid DS 2019 (Formerly IAP66)

* Valid I-20 (must be signed on the reverse by designated school official

* Valid I-94

I would get a certified photo-copy of the green-card and send that to the UK embassy or consulate that you are applying for a visa from.

The other countries all fall under the Schengren Visa program.

I found a solution!

I will send my Advance Parole Document (the original one) and a copy of the green card.

The date until i was paroled in that document does not have to do with the time they will give me that visa.

I am so glad I applied for this paper! I will update what happened if i got the visa.

They need to put the visa into your passport... are you sending that to them as well?

Yes, I am sending my passport, but sending the green card is something I am not willing to do.

I applied for visas to the UK for two seprate visits. And yes I sent the GC as requested and they sent it back w. no problems taped to the back of my passport.

Scotland is UK, so you apply for a visa for the UK, this also covers Northern Ireland, Wales, and England.
