It is frustrating to note the type of denial response I get from the agencies/recruiters. They always say "your resume is very good/good/fantastic but we want at least few months of US experience ..blah blah....". I heard this on more than 20 such occasions. Some times get disillusioned.

Glad that no more USCIS paperwork for next two years

I hear ya. Though I am American, due to being in India for so many years, I got the same story. I was sure my experience as chief administrator in a company in India would count as something! I called several temp agencies practically every day for a month bugging them, before they gave me a few days of temp work, only filing papers in different offices. After that, slowly they were more open to giving me more work. Still, it took a year and a half before I got a permanent, "real" job here. Even after a year, hubby is still working in an Indian-owned gas station as a clerk, though he was auditing businesses in India. It takes time which can be frustrating.

Exactly!! Most of the times I don't even get a reply back so I know they are not interested.

BTW, if nobody's willing to give a job, how am I supposed to get the US experience??

I really want to start working coz sitting at home is killing. Daniel's not here either. I never though it would be this difficult :(

True. Now I get a another type of feedback. It seems that recruiter in US view the "gap" in the employment as evil deed and doesn't entertain the application. Inspite of my crying hoarse that the "gap" is because I don't have work permit/EAD, they are indifferent to the plea. If I take up another entry level job, then I doomed to stay in that domain only 'cause the people give importance to the last employment. This whole experience is really taunting :protest::bonk: .

Gosh.. you had worse experience than us. You must have gone through a lot. It is really tough time for us too .. with job yet to come, it is putting lot of pressure on the finances and the family as a whole.

Financially we have to cut corners and do with less. But it is worth it being together. (L):luv:

I really admire you Parul, it must be so hard to be separated again. :( I am praying for a completely safe deployment for Daniel and for the time to pass quickly so you two can be together again soon! :luv:

Congrats on getting 100% on your driving test! My guy got 11 wrong first try. I TOLD him to study the book instead of just taking a few online practice tests but he didn't listen.

Congrats RSA! But it is sad you are away from your family. :( My husband has a couple of Indian friends who went through a consultancy agency. First they were trained (computers) for 3 months in a different state, then the company got them temp contract jobs in other states. I heard the jobs will only last a few weeks or months. Is it like that for you? It is easy for bachelors but hard for those who are married. :crying: I hope your family can live together at the same place soon. (F)

Been gone for so long.. dogs broke the modem and then I went to India. Am all refreshed now, mum's cooking must account for something.

Congrats RSA on getting a job. Hopefully, you will get one close to home soon. I know how hard it is to be away from the one person you have gone through so much to be with

Thanks a lot ELW and RSA. Its kinda hard without Daniel but I know its harder for him out there. I have always been a very independent person and believe it or not, I am doing a really fine job of taking care of everything with the added burden of Daniel and I expecting a baby too

Looks like the prospect of getting a job has gone down the drain for now, taking care of everything is a full time job with my speed of finishing any task having gotten slower by atleast 75% :P

Right now I am sooo looking forward to sseing him for 4 days at the end of this month in Savannah (last time till he comes home for my delivery, hopefully!!)
