Packet 3 checklist question

Do we have to have everything on the checklist physically in hand before we send it back in with everything checked off?

We've taken care of everything, but are waiting on documents. The police records should come in the next week and a half or so. The medical just needs to be picked up by my SO. The birth certificate has been ordered (though we're not sure when that will come since he was adopted and apparently there is some form his mom has to go sign before they will issue it and I don't think that's arrived yet so it's delaying it). Everything we could take care of is taken care of and we are just waiting for these documents to come. Can we send back the checklist or do we have to wait for everything to be in my SO's hands?

Just re-read your posting. I don't know what you mean by the birth certificate, but I was adopted as well, and I ordered the long form birth certificate and they sent me it no problem. It has my adoptive parents as showing as my parents (which they are!). There was a letter accompanying it, saying that this is not the actual registered birth, but a later registration due to adoption and that the one registered at birth is sealed and can't be released. I brought the letter with me to my interview, but just handed over a copy of the one they had sent me with my adoptive parents name on it, and not my birth parents name, and no questions were ever asked. You might want to look into this. My parents didn't have to sign anything. Why would they? Records were changed to reflect new parents.

Hmmmm.. I sent off my checklist last week, before I even have all my documents ready and now they have scheduled my appointment in 3 weeks time. And I am still pending my Colombian police certificate... dang!!! I may have to extend my interview date now

What did you send back on 3/13 (in your signature it says packet 3 sent back to montreal) if you still have the checklist? Just those 2 DS forms?

Alternatively, you can attend your interview and they will hold the visa pending receipt of the police certificate.

I'm not really sure; it's something he told me. Someone called him I think and said that this needed to happen. I wish I knew more; I just emailed him and asked him to tell me again what it was but I'm sure he doesn't have much more of a clue than me. So, I'm curious, did you also bring a certified copy of your adoption decree? B/c the supplemental info in the P3 says if you are adopted you have to bring this. So we are also trying to get that tracked down.

Aside from the fact that MTL seems to have lost it, as they never acknowledged receipt of it, even though Fedex tracking says it was delivered.

God I hate this whole process. I feel like we are in limbo and nothing is happening.

Yes, just the DS forms. Our laywer didn't include the checklist; sounds like she should have. Does this mean our P3 is not officially in?

Yes, the checklist should have been sent in. They will not proceed with anything until that's been received.

He's supposed to check off the things that pertain to him (to signify that he has them all set, just check them even if they're still on the way, like the birth cert and the police cert) and write N/A by the ones that don't and then sign it.

I'm not sure about this, but I'm kind of ####### about things, I would maybe send those 2 forms again with the checklist in case they tossed them because they weren't with the checklist. You'd think they'd put them with the rest of your file but since they didn't acknowledge the receipt of them it would make me wonder. You'd think they could at least say "hey! We got your forms but where's the checklist"
