Hello

I had my interview yesterday at the Islamabad Embassy, Pakistan. Interiew lasted for just 2 mins or so. At the end of the interview, the officer said to me CONGRATS YOU HAVE QUALIFIED. But he handed to me the blue sheet which said that my case has been temporily refused for further administrative process. It takes six weeks to do so.

My question is how long does it take? More than six weeks? is the time period same for K1 cases???

Please help me out!

We were told 3-4 months at the K-1 interview. Took over 11 months to clear his name.

The consulate employees are giving estimates -- they do not have any idea how long it will take to clear his name. There are several agencies involved and some may really drag their feet or require multi-cks.

Do not count on 6 weeks. However, feel good they want to issue the visa after the name is cleared.

AP is common in Islamabad Pakistan and no one can tell you the time frame. My husband was told 6 weeks and it was 5 months until they ajudicated the visa. All you can do is to wait it out and pray for patience during this time. AP is a dark hole and they will not or cannot tell you anything since it is background and security checks and is considered a matter of national security. Good luck.

You are right. Actually, I have lived in Switzerland for over 5 years before i returned to my homeland. I guess, they gonna check my record of Swiss.

Can we talk about this some more?

I'm sorry... I know there was an article or thread in here somewhere about the name checks and exactly what they do...

It is about the "Condor" or something like that? Anyone else remember...?

It really scares me because when I look at people's time lines it seems that in 2005-2006, couples (in Morocco, at least) were interviewing and getting their visas within a month or so... (this i just a guesstimate based on what i've read, no scientific analysis though)... :reading:

And now, i see couples waiting 6, 9, 12 months. And no rhyme or reason to it... :girlwerewolf2xn:

How are you all surviving?

It was hell!!! Be glad you're not going through Pakistan or Cairo! Basically i'd get excited each Sat night because Sunday is the start of their workweek but every Sunday morning when I didn't get "the call" I'd be all depressed. Then a glimmer of hope would shine every morning thereafter followed by inevitable doom until the final reprieve on Fri and Sat when they were closed so no expectations were shot to hell.

One day at a time is the best way to get through it and trust that if you have done EVERYTHING in your power, i.e. senator/congressman/bug people then it's up to Him and who knows why but there must be a reason that is beyond our comprehension.

i guess the thing that is most scary and producing the most anxiety for me as we approach our interview in Casablanca this month, is that there are no known variables. i read Tammy's post in another forum and she wrote: there is no reason why...

if beneficiaries are being targeted and put into AP for a specific reason, then it maybe it would be more tolerable.

like if he/she had a name hit... it wouldn't be fair, but at least it's something?

if he/she lived next door to a known terrorist... again, not fair, but okay...

i guess i don't even understand what security checks they are doing in the first place??

is it a Name Check? Finger print? Address?

and if it is a Name Check, didn't they already do that at NVC?

i'm sorry......

i guess i just don't understand.

my prayers go out for all of you! (F) (F) (F)
