The county prosecutor doesn't release the accused full name because he is a juvie.... the media pretends to respect that but more or less tells you his full name in a front page article....

Is this normal practice????

Let's face it. While the media are a necessary evil, they are an evil. They don't respect anyone's privacy. They seem to feed off of misfortune and they are frequently irresponsible in their reporting of what actually happens, often exacerbating a problem.

I'm not sure if this was intentional or just sloppy. I tend to think in this case, it was sloppiness, but I don't know the whole story. Only what is reported here.

keeping the suspect's name a secret when it's printed already in the article. yup, there is no way the authorities coulda seen that one coming.

same way with any problems that arise with (children) and they end up interviewing the mothers say, but dont want to disclose the childs name, now in that area close by who cant place tht mom with which child that had what done to them

I'm not up on US journalism law - but unless the judge applies a gag order to a case, the press isn't obligated to keep the identity secret.
