That is usually your sign....

Is it normal for them to take weeks to cash the check?

Seems so....we waited twice as long as you have been so far.

This whole visa journey process is a test of inner strength. Only those with calm and patience in their hearts remain sane :)

the bad news is that your case doesn't even start to get processed until you get NOAs, so thats when you start counting days from, so non-NOA days are effectively dead days. If you're on the wrong end of the wrong pile you can be waiting a few weeks. sucks, i know, but its just the way it is.

The good news is that you've done all you can and for the moment there's no need to stress yourselves. Pat yourselves on the back for getting this far with your sanity, and just wait for the process to work its magic

:)

I;m not so sure about those 'dead' days......I seemed have got my AP and EAD approved right on the timeline of having filed Feb 4th...

This is reassuring :)

We were stuck in namecheck for 17 months, so I'm well acquainted with just how 'abnormal' it can be. An EAD and an AP document really aren't all they are cracked up to be. Employers prefer to see greencards, and an AP re-entry has its drawbacks.

I agree that one would think a State Department AP would eliminate a namecheck delay stateside when adjusting. Unfortunately, the security divisions of State and USCIS don't share information. And they do that on purpose as part of a checks and balance system.

Boy can we relate to the "employers want greencards" point. Was a HUGE reason hubby was NOT considered for oral surgery residencies. Hopefully we'll have the green card soon (this summer) and next year will be better and he can increase his chances of matching into a program. Fingers crossed...

Biometrics 2/23/2006

Temporary EAD given for 1 month ONLY b/c of Infopass appt: 5/1/2006

Went back to renew EAD through Infopass: EAD card was not given "due to reasons we can't disclose"

5/3/2007: Confirmation that EAD is delayed due to background checks. (started to use the senator, ombudsman and was just a royal pain in the neck)

5/30/2007: EAD production ordered (after over 400 days of waiting!!! woo hoo!)

AOS Interview: 5/12/2008!!! FINALLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7/29/2008: card production ordered...918 days..can't wait to see that card!

Do employers need to see a green card if you have an unrestricted SSN?

I hope not, I think for some positions yes they don't want to risk training/hiring you without it, but many other postions ead will be fine. I know at my work people are hired with it no problem

it took us about a month too before we got our NOA's. dont worry, it'll happen.

Yes some jobs want a green card..esp if they are going to invest years of training in a person. I totally understand that, but also had USCIS not paid attention to the namecheck delays i could imagine us waiting a very long time--and therefore, no GC and no training. tough situation...they just don't get the "pending" part :)

water---you'll hear good news soon--EAD etc. good luck!

My application package was sent back after 1.5 months after I sent it to Chicago. I was worried that they lost my package but apparently I forgot to send them I-130 money.

Someone else also waited more than a month until he got his package back because of a lack of a signature.
