Jill ~ you live in Philly? I'm in NY! Let's get together & party I'm soooo down for it. I'm going to be doing my "semesters over" partying in a few weeks when this summer session is OVER.

Megan ~ I LOST weight when I was pregnant at the beginning! I suppose it's normal being that I was puking my brains out. Trust me, you'll gain weight especially at the end.

Glad to hear everybody's doing good, you guys know me already, I'm usually not depressed or sulking because of the wait, I make the best of it. My best friend was like "aren't you guys, you know.... frustrated" I was like "yeah." She was like "well how do you take care of it?" I was like "we just deal with it." I got confused, I didn't realize what she was talking about, I finally realized she was asking if we had, you know, phone sex. LOL Gotta love my friends.

Luis called me all tipsy, today's Independence Day in Perú, he's doing the "drunk dialing" lol telling me he loves me 100 times all slurred speech and everything. I was messing with him, it's so fun messing with drunk people, especially when its your boyfriend! haha...

Have a good night everyone!!

~ Suz

Ok maybe now that I received my approval I am getting paranoid of what could go wrong - haha, I know real positive.

I am really nervous that the Embassy will deny us because of no common language.. He speaks spanish fluently and hardly any English. I speak English and not so good Spanish. We do speak for hours on the phone because the Spanish I do speak he understands (one of those odd couple things), and I can understand him if he speaks slow enough. We have spent 3 vacations together and between the Spanish I speak and the pocket dictionary I possess, the language was not a problem at all. I really wanted to go to the interview with him because the prevoius two times that he went for a tourist visa (after him and I met and had my name on the forms when he applied) he got denied, for the pure basis they did not think he would return to Chile.

Any thoughts on this?

I'm sorry Raff hug9.gif I wish I could explain why some take longer. Peach's sent date (the date they supposedly go by) was 3/30 and she was just approved. By looking at those left I have to wonder if there is just this short stack of filers from your timeframe. Your initial concern of having a bit longer due to security checks because of your job could be it as well. It can be anything holding it up a little longer than some. :( The good news is that usually those dont get held up for too long. I'm sure it's coming... but in the meantime don't feel badly about being down or having to hold back as we celebrate. We know how you feel and understand your concerns!

Thank you for your understanding. I am very happy for other people, and I don't want to seem as if I'm raining on their parade, but I really feel so terribly down, and at this point I think it's not going to happen. One thing I know is that I can't possibly bear another six months or longer like that, and I don't know what I'm going to do if this goes on much longer. Michael would move here in a heartbeat, but he knows that the current situation in Italy is rather bad (won't go into details, but suffice it to say that he's got to pay about $1,000 a month in child support, and it would be next to impossible for him to find a job here, unless he wanted to risk his life every minute of the day), and that his moving here would put a huge burden on me. My work situation is not good either, especially from a psychological point of view. At my age I wouldn't be able to find another job here, and that would probably make things hard in another European country. This is why we decided to go the K1 route... We were even able to buy an apartment in the US a couple of months ago, but I don't even know if I will ever be allowed to live here (my money was OK to take though).

Sorry for venting and spoiling everyone's party, but I am feeling so depressed... We are good people, and I don't think we deserve this.

HighwayStar>>>>

I am sorry to hear that things have been very tough on you.

I just want you to know I am here to share that depressing uncertainty with you....

I totally know what you mean. My fiance is coming to Japan in two weeks

and we have been apart for almost 8 months because of USCIS.

We have never committed a crime before, we met when we were both in college,

I always wrote down his address in my I-94 form

whenever I went to visit him in the US, I really don't think there is anything

that looks suspicious to USCIS about our history or background.

But somehow it has been taking 4 months since we filed our petition....

It should be encouraging to know that VSC is moving as you can see

from all the new approvals coming every day but it has been so long that

I feel like i would never ever get an approval from USCIS.

But highwaystar, let's hang in there a little longer!!!!

You are not alone!!! Just forget about NOA2 while your fiance is with you in Italy

and try to enjoy every minute of the time you get to spend with him because you know

it is very precious!! ;-)

I will do the same when my fiance comes to Japan!!

Good Morning April. Just getting here now as i've been following mama nich's advice and keeping myself off the computer as much as I can. Not so easy when it's your job! Still no news but i'm confident it's coming! ;)

Megan, so glad things are still going well for you. I too lost weight with all 3 of my pregnancies... course I gained hundreds after! You get safely to your man and let us know when you're across the pond. I think this visit is going to do you guys so much good. I'm happy you have this time. :)

Suzy, if I wasn't 4 hours away and so busy i'd be down there in a heartbeat for a night of partying after all this! Somehow I think you could keep up with me. ;) Perhaps some day. That's funny about Luis... sounds like something my friends would ask me. Course they know i'd tell them the truth.. usually with details!

Aww Kristen, sorry you're fretting now. I don't think the language barrier will be a problem as long as you prove you can communicate. :) Maybe you could include a letter stating that you can and do communicate just fine and that you're both working on becoming fluent in each others languages. I'm sure that would help. Try not to fret too much... you're almost there. :)

Sandra, at his medical they will test his blood to find out if and what he needs for vaccinations if he doens't have his records.

Raff, as I mentioned before and as you see above, there are still some from your time period waiting. I wish I knew why. Hate to assume anything but it seems that adjuticator is on vacation! I can't imagine going weeks beyond this point where all my april buddies are being approved so I certainly understand your discouragement. Have you tried calling Vermont yet? I know they'll probably tell you that you're within your time BUT there have been many instances wh ere you can get a little more information depending on who you talk to. Let us know. I do hope you are enjoying this special time with your love despite the wait. *hugs*

Gaura, this is it!!!! Oh i'm so excited for you!

No touches for us yet. I've been doing good trying not to obsess.. not sure why. Maybe it's that 'calm' before the 'NOA2' that was spoke about yesterday. I'm sure it's not too far off now! Going to go home and work out then perhaps a float in the pool for a bit. Sending good luck wishes to all!

Kim ~ Yeah, I'm silly like that I'd probably make up some farfetched story that my gullible friends would believe lol. I'm pretty truthful with them though!

Yeah we need to party, I'll go to Boston, I have crazy friends up there too, one of which just found out I'm petitioning a visa for Luis and is like YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED? WHAT? haha.... needless to say she's a little disappointed b/c she thinks our partying days are over, lol.

Gaura ~ I'm so excited for you! Woohoo!

I don't know about anyone else, but I literally have NO negative feelings about our progress. It's been insanely hard to wait to see him again, and it does seem like an eternity to people in love, but I realize that USCIS simply can't look at things the same way we do. While I'm sure they understand the gravity of their jobs and what it is they're essentially deciding, they've also got to remember that it's their job and certain things go along with the process. I prefer to think there are people there who really would like to approve someone, who wish they had the authority to just say, "Here, you guys can come here and get married now", but have to go by the book.

However, I know it's coming - as long as I know that I gave them everything they asked for, the MOST that could dampen my spirits would be an RFE for some stupid little minute detail I forgot. Beyond that, since we're law-abiding, in love, able to support ourselves - there is absolutely no reason for us to be denied. Given the fact that pretty much EVERYONE on Igor's list so far has seen an approval (even if a delayed one), I just can't imagine actually worrying that we'll be flat-out denied with no recourse. Maybe it's happened, but it seems so rare as to not even register as a blip on the probability radar.

Some adjudicators are probably more meticulous, some are probably more relaxed. I still don't think there's a person here who is going to be completely denied for no reason.

We'll all be with those we love, eventually. Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

I'm totally with you on that SterlingGirl... I love the optimism in this forum. We all keep each other laughing & that's great... and let's think about it, I've probably said it a million times BUT.... We've found the loves of our lives! What's better than that? Yeah so mine is in Peru, chillin', having fun without me right now, but soon he'll be here and things will be awesome!

I don't think too many people are afraid of getting denied at the USCIS level. You're right in that VERY rarely are people denied at this stage of the process unless it is found that one is not legally allowed to marry.. faces IMBRA issues..etc. However, the Embassy stage is a different story. At some of the higher fraud Consulates it's almost a given that you are denied before you are given your visa. It's the exception but it's still happens enough that there is discussion almost daily here at VJ.

My issues with waiting have nothing to do with the USCIS. I've been here long enough to know that timelines fluctuate and not everything is done in order. Of course I want them to approve everyone in a week but I know that's unrealistic. What burdens me most is that i've spent 3 weeks with Russell in the last 10 months... this after being together daily for a year and a half.... I miss him and he misses me. :( Sure, maybe I can visit... I have. But NZ is not the kinda place you can just hop over to for a few days vacation. It's extremely expensive and an extremely long flight. He is not allowed into the U.S. in on the VWP anymore so it would have to be me going to visit him and trying to situate my kids for that long is not too easy. :(

This is the place where people understand that. To have him in my arms every day for so long and now having to wait this out... in the scheme of things it's not so long... but tell that to my heart. ;)

That's perfectly understandable too - I'm in the same boat, really. The one time he visited, the moons aligned JUST right for us. He had just started a new job (in addition to his writing job) and was able to tell them that he already had time scheduled out of the country. Plane tickets were RIDICULOUSLY low; I think his round-trip ticket cost us something in the $200 range, though I can't remember the exact figure. He stayed for a month with no problems.

Now that fuel charges are so high, neither of us can afford plane tickets back and forth and still save for his adjustment of status, employment authorization, etc. The dollar is worth diddly on the pound anymore, so I certainly can't afford to go there, especially having a kid; it definitely IS tough. And while you do have your high-fraud consulates being extra careful, my point was that I think people don't often get denied withOUT recourse. Meaning, as long as your relationship is truly genuine, and you have nothing to hide, it will eventually happen for all of us. Kind of one of those "Someday, we'll all look back on this and laugh" speeches.
