Ana, so sorry you're having to face that. Especially from people who are supposed to be supporting you!

Our famlies and friends are very supportive of us but I find that many people are simply ignorant to the process, especially when they know of others who have simply flown to the U.S., married and adjusted status that way...or even worse, are here illegally. Even the most educated professionals I know are amazed at the process and time it's taken to get Russell back home to us.

Brian, I can't imagine having a fiance from Mexico and waiting through this process when so many mexicans are already here illegally! It can't be fun trying to explain the process to them. I'd point those folks to www.immigrate2us.net and let them read over the 601 waiver forum!

In the end, we know what we're doing and we know why we're doing it. And when we're sitting at the appointment waiting to adjust status we will not have to worry about being denied, facing bans or proving there was no intent. ;) If there was an easier way to make sure our SO could stay here legally dont they think we'd be doing it? I say the hell with the naysayers... kill em with kindness (and sarcasm ;) ) and tell them you really appreciate their support and will look into it... and always with a smile. That'll shut em up! ;)

Friends of my Ukr. family all talk to me like I'm some kind of failure and as if its mine and Dave's fault that I can't simply get up, pack my suitcase and fly to the States. I mean I already have this distance to deal with and than all those people around me are acting as if I live in my own sad little fantasy world! :crying:

Cheer up little camper. :star:

I also face the same thing to some degree. It seems like several people that my SO knows in Mexico are experts on immigration. Several people have tried to convince her that something is wrong, because EVERYONE knows that she is allowed to come to the United States right away and get married and stay forever.

And the people she works with are the worst. Several people have commented that it should not take this long and we are only taking about 60 days so far. I chalk it up to jealousy.

Thankfully, her and her family respect my opinion more. I have explained to her that every situation is different. And that without the facts of each situation, it is difficult to make comparisons.

Because indeed, there are some situations that can be expedited. And other circumstances that would lend themselves to both of us being in the U.S. during the entire process. However, ours is not one of them.

Dwell on the positive. You have found your soul mate. Does it really matter what others think? Does it really matter whether the process takes two months or six months? I am looking forward to a lifetime with my SO.

Stay Positive,

Brian

Brian, thanks for the kind words!

I mean, I'm fine with the process, why others have to stick their noses into my business? And act as if it's my fault USCIS has those policies. Stupid mentality. I know it is my own culture and so on, but I can't stand it any more :). After 4 or so years lived in the States I'm a reformed person! :). At least, just like in your fiance's case, my family is very supportive.

On a positive side, we just got our first touch!!! :)

Well, let's hope you get approved this week. You guys waited long enough!

Ana

I mean did anybody encounter that or is it stupid Ukrainian culture thing, when people are happy when those around them are misarable?

Ana, my Olenka has only told her immediate family. She didn't even tell her friends. I think she may not be extending the information to others for the same reason you mention. I explained to her the whole process and she understands it. I'm sure her co-workers would give her ####### about it too.

I think Brian's comments are dead on relating to this also

Kim: Wish I could put your words into those haters/advisers ears :). And I can't agree more on the issue of illegal immigration. I went home just because I did not want to deal with all the consecuences of AOS from non-immigrant visa. The funny thing is that right before I left the States I saw an immigration lawyer and he told me to just go ahead and marry to stay in the country. Thank goodness the little I knew of immigration law helped me understand that he was just scamming me as a potential client with lots of problems and therefore lots of potential fees :).

desenchantee: Thanks for cheering me up :). Well, I wasn't planning to tell anybody, but you just can't stop my Dad :). I finally got over it now. It's just the culture. As nice and hospitable Ukrainians are, there are still many people out there who dwell on "neighbor's" misery. I just have to learn to ignore those comments.

Guys, just wanted to thank everybody again. I had a really low day today and you all were so great and helped me get through it! You truly are the friendliest forum!!! :)

Ana I have to admit I don´t know Ukranian culture, but I don´t think that´s it... It´s not only ukranians, but humans in general... For some reason lots of people feel better about their lifes when they see someone who´s miserable, it´s stupid, but it´s just how it is.

And really NOBODY here understand the process here... Not even my family quite gets it... Not even me!! Hahahahaha!! People just think that I should get married already and all my immigration problems would be solved, because that´s what they hear. Anyway, the way I see it, the long, long, long process helps making a lot of people decide to stay illegal, and the illegal people help the process have to be longer and so on... and the ones who decide to do things the right way have to pay for it... Not fair, but just how it is!

I agree with you guys- My fiance is from Brasil, too. and his family asks.. why dont you two just get married?

They think he just hops on the plane the next day! hahahah I wish

If only they knew the K3 takes even longer- I swear they dont believe us!

One of his aunts even asked (recently).. Are you SURE you are moving? Are you SURE she is going to marry you? OMG.. like we need to hear this.. It is hard enough waiting!!!!

The only people I have told are my very closest friends and a couple of friends from school who are not

from the United States. I feel like they are the only ones capable of understanding.

At least we have each other on this website!

Not as creepy as your teeth. Seriously, glad you came out of the closet...er shadows. And welcome!

Hi April people. Looks like you guys are all getting closer and more excited every day. I haven't seen you mention the changes to your expected date of approval on the timeline. It's supposed to be more accurate.

I would tell korny up there to fill out a timeline, but that might bump some of you back on Igor's list or change your new timeline dates. Oh dear, should we tell him/her?

Just wanted to say good luck, enjoy the touches, and get ready to party in here before too much longer.

Somehow, there has been more CSC approvals in the past few days compared to VSC but CSC is still working on January filers and a little of February filers who have waited looooong time already for the NOA2, it is just about time CSC finished them all up... VSC may have slowed down a little but it is finishing March filers and I am positive it will pick up soon and start working on April filers.

I have a very strong feeling that it will be raining approvals on this thread before the month ends. th15_3_41.gif

Welcome to the waiting room Kornyhiv!!!!!!

Been busy with work so not had a chance to get on. Been having a play with the timeline search function on here and to get everyone in for a complete month you have to search from the last day of the previous month to the first day of the following month. So if you are looking for all the information for February you would search from 01/31/2008 - 03/01/2008. Because it searches for the days after the earliest one and the days before the latest one. That's how I've worked it out anyway.

April - 61 filers, 1 with NOA2 (1%) and 60 waiting.

March - 88 filers, 58 with NOA2 (66%) and 32 waiting.

February - 99 filers, 89 with NOA2 (90%), 4 RFEs pending and 6 waiting.

January - 83 filers, 82 with NOA2 (99%) and 1 waiting.

December - 64 filers, 61 with NOA2 (95%) , 1 RFE pending and 2 waiting.

November - 26 filers, 24 with NOA2 (92%) and 2 waiting.

Take care everyone :)
