I have question about my AOS. I sent my AOS application to Chicago since April 09, 2008 via USPS certified mail. I have received the delivery confirmation notice, but I haven't heard anything ffrom USCIS. Is it normal? or I need to do something about it. If so what I need to do. My money order has not been cashed yet. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

We still have a few questions. How much should we make the money order? $930 plus a biometrics fee of $80; the fee total is $1,010. So do we pay the biometrics separate or together just make a money order of $1,010 and sent it with the AOS package?

Also where do we sent all the package?(we live in chicago,illinois)

Another question I also have is that we applyed for SSN yesterday, after he will get his SSN in the mail is he allowed to get a job? or he has to wait for form I765 (Application for Employment Authorization) WE ARE SO CONFUSED?!?!?!

Once your application is in it will take between 60-90 days, but some people have got it a bit sooner. You can check other people's timelines by clicking on the 'Immigration Timelines' tab at the top of the page.

JeffMayeth, thank you for your response. I hope you are right because I have seen so many of you guys here in VJ getting your NOAs just a week and I have to go through this waiting again after paying all this money.

You're welcome! Just always be positive! I was like you before i receive my NOA's, i was also getting worried,specially when i saw englishmuffin got her NOA's then she told me that it will be there soon based on my timeline... and it did!!

So, the key is patiently wait.. anyway, just keep us updated!

We made a separate money order for $930 & $80 for biometrics because USPS office can't give us total of $1010 in one money order.. so what we did is to state in the money order that the $930 is for the I-485 and the $80 is for the biometrics.. and it worked! We put it in an envelope and send it along with the AOS.

Does he have a temporarily work permit from the POE? If yes, the answer is yes he can work as long as his tempo work permit is valid. If NO, then he has to wait for the EAD to be able for him to work.... K1 visa SSN has a note "Valid for work only with DHS Authorization"

The SS officer told me before to go back when i get my greencard so that they provide me with new SS ID without that note (that means having a greencard, you don't need the EAD anymore). We just need the EAD so that we can work while waiting for our greencard. (Correct me if wrong!)

The EAD are typically being processed in 45-90 days. USCIS has made that a priority and if you look at other posts from previous months you can see that people are really getting it that fast.
