The same in NYS. I've got my permit and is ready to take a test but it expires tomorrow, May 22. They said that as soon as I get EAD, I'll have to go there and to renew my permit. Then, I'll take the road test!

Good thing you don't live in NYC, I've failed the driving test there so many times

When I tried getting my drivers license (here in MO), they told me they could give me a permit but they will only date it up until when my I-94 expires (which is this Friday) so we didn't bother. She then said that if I brought over my EAD, they will give me a permit for a year (depending on what date it says on the EAD). So I guess once I get my GC, they'll give me a 2-year one and so on and so forth until I'm a citizen.

Oh fun times!

BTW, good luck to all those fellow AOS-ers going for their biometrics tomorrow! I have mine set for 3pm.

"My Controls" at the top of the thread, then "Edit Signature" in the Personal Profile section on the left.

I am guessing the term "touched" means when they update your case but don't change the information.... I hope I am right if not, I'll feel like a fool, hehe

There are two types of "touches", hard and soft. The soft one is the one you mention: date updated on the case, but no information changed in the status. Hard touch is when the information is changed too, and I believe, that's when you also get an email.

I was feeling pretty silly myself not knowing, and kinda figured out how you guys can tell whether it was touched or not but wasn't sure still.

Now I'm sorta mad cause I realize my AP hasn't been touched since 04/24/08 and my EAD and AOS were touched 05/06/08 (date of my biometrics). Nothing happened ever since

Hopefully very soon we'll be having lots of these from the whole thread

LOL, I'm not the only one who thought "where's April filers?" While I see many March filers' active update, we are kinda quiet. B)

So my I485 and I765 were touched today after my biometrics appointment yesteday. Atleast I don't have to worry about them not getting my fingerprints

That is a good and positive way of looking at it I got my biometrics done 9 days earlier as well at a different location (had to move) and really worried about having messed it up

We got married on May 9. Right now our funds are severely depleted, especially with the wedding costs. Do we need to be in a huge hurry to file for AOS? I would like to wait until June or July. Also, would youall recommend having a local agent do all the paperwork?
