Just check online...and the 3 cases was touched. I don't know why...

:o

My guess is that your case will get tranferred to CSC very soon. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I was hoping this too...but perhaps is some RFE...hopefully not

I will post here every thing that happen...

:)Thanks

All my cases were touched yesterday, too. I won't be transfered to CSC because I didn't come here on K1 visa. I don't know why they touch the case before biometrics. If I get RFE I should get an email before, right?

Hi Steph0814,

I don't think you messed up the system. Because my AOS & EAD were touched on my walk-in biometrics day...

The system is kinda brain-damaged B) , don't worry too much.... though I fully understand what you are feeling.

Hope next week's good news!

Hey everyody, I see that most of you ppl get excited when you get your cases "touched", is it any good?

I am getting a little paranoid because my cases are "touched" like twice a week so what does that mean?

Also, how do you put your timeline without having to type it each time :P haha ?

Thanks so much for your help!!!

April 15th, 2008 - Sent envelope with I-130, I-485 and I-765 and Medical Examination

April 16th, 2008 - Envelope received at the Chicago Lockbox

May 2nd, 2008 - Got notice for Biometrics Appoinment

May 5th, 2008 - Got an e-mail that says the US Postal Service returned a letter regarding I-765

May 7th, 2008 - Biometrics Appointment

May 8th, 2008 - I-765 and I-485 touched

May 12th, 2008 - I-765 touched

May 14th, 2008 - Got another e-mail that says US Postal Service returned 2 letters regarding I-485 and I-130

May 15th, 2008 - Attended InfoPass appointment and I-130 touched

May 16th, 2008 - I-485 touched

May 17th, 2008 - I-765 touched

I am guessing the term "touched" means when they update your case but don't change the information.... I hope I am right if not, I'll feel like a fool, hehe

I got an RFE without an email, however there were "soft touches" on my applications right before it was issued, i.e. the dates were updated, but the cases still say "received and pending". From what I understand, you get emails only when there are "hard touches", that is, when the status of the case is updated with something new, not just date updates.

"My Controls" at the top of the thread, then "Edit Signature" in the Personal Profile section on the left.

There are two types of "touches", hard and soft. The soft one is the one you mention: date updated on the case, but no information changed in the status. Hard touch is when the information is changed too, and I believe, that's when you also get an email.

Hi asolana,

You can add your timeline by editing your signature from your personal page "My Controls". You can find "Edit Signature" function on the left side panel. Hope this helps...

And, congrats on touching! Yes, "touched" means exactly what you think  .

Hi all :-)

Just a quick update on my case (the one which hasn't moved yet).

Last week USCIS told me to call this Monday (after 30 days from application have passed), so that they would take action on my application. So I did. I found it slightly amusing (though not important, so feel free to skip :-)) (warning: I am just as annoying as USCIS in the exchange  ):

USCIS: You are calling because you have filled an I-485 more than 30 days ago and you haven't received a receipt, is that correct?

Me: yes [last week I said 'no' and they told me to call again next week, when they would be able to take further action].

USCIS then asks for the date when I mailed the package. They reply:

USCIS: It has been more than 30 days since you filled.

Me: That's right.

USCIS: Has the check been cashed?

Me: No.

USCIS: Then you are not in the system. Is there anything else I can help you with?

Me: Should I just wait a little longer and call again if I don't receive it soon? [in a friendly tone, I swear]

USCIS: It usually takes between 30 and 60 days for your to get a notice. Just wait until your check is cashed to call us (impatient).

Me: I am sorry to be asking all these questions... but what should I do if the cash is not checked in 60 days? [i asked that because she told me call when the check is cashed rather than in a timeframe]

USCIS: Do you have a signature confirming that we have received it?

Me: Yes.

USCIS: If your check is not cashed in 60 days, you will should send an application again. Is there anything else I can help you with?

I said no and went on my way... That's it, I am giving up on job offer, taking a vacation and waiting 30 more days until I get worried

Have a great week everyone nd congrats on the biometrics.
