I went to the ASC in Queens, NY. My appt was for 8am so to be safe i got there 15mins early. The queue was already forming. At around 8:10 we were called and i found that the reason for long queues outside was the size of the office, mind you you are warned on the notice not to bring company. I filled in the worksheet form and was told to sit down. About a minute later we were called and they took fingerprints and photograph. "Thats it you can go" i was told.

All in all it was very much pain free.

I had the similar experience - my biometrics were taken today, too. I was scheduled 8am, came there ten minutes earlier, filled the form, and was done by 8:15. Piece of cake!

I'd like to as you though - english_rose - did you get your learner's permit in NY? Does it also expires the same date your I-94 does??? Because mine is this way and it's annoying as hell (live in Albany, NY.) Thanks .

No it doesn't, i have a year on it.

Oh, it's good to know that at least some people can avoid this nonsense . My DVM stamped Temporary Visitor Exp - 05-22-2008 which is ten days from now. They also said that I won't be able to drive past that date even though the permit itself expires 2012. As soon as I get my EAD, I'll be able to either learn or take a road test but not before that. I may pretend I didn't know that though. We'll see how it goes .

I think it depends on state (I'm in Florida), but I almost fell in the same trap you are in now.

I brought I94 and I129F NOA2 which had limited days left to DL office. The employee said she could not give me 1 year DL with those document because of expiration date. She also said if I brought I485 NOA1, she could give me 1 year DL. So I went back to home and took NOA1 then applied again! Now I have 1 year DL.

So, I think DL office issue DL in accordance with the expiration date of USCIS doc. i485 NOA1 does not have exp. date

If you ask about AP filing fee....

Since you already paid for I-485's $1,010, it's FREE to file AP. You should send copy of I485 NOA1 with form I-131.
