Congratulations to all that have had good news!

I am quite discouraged at the moment, I went and applied for the SSN on Nov 4 and then went 2 weeks later to get a print out and the lady said that my case was still on hold with USCIS and she can't do anything. So I made an INFOPASS apointment for 2 reasons.

1. See why my case was still on hold (Even though I have the EAD card in hand)

2. Put in a service request for my I485 (I have a family reunion in London this Christmas and I haven't seen most of my family in 15 years so kinda a big deal)

Results:

1. USCIS claims NO responsibility for the case on hold I need to go talk to SSA (Even though I have already and they said I have to talk to USCIS) ROUND AND ROUND I GO WOOOOOO

2.She reads me what I see everyday when I check my status online and says " Call the USCIS line for status instead of coming in" I told her kindly that I wanted a service request put in for it that it states on the letter that I should wait 60 days and if I don't hear anything to call or inquire. " Sorry, I can't do that. We don't do that here"

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

RRRRRRRRRRRRR

And on top of that on the way there, I passed a cement truck and got a nice crack in my windshield.

So sorry to hear that, Steph0814.

Maybe you can try another SSA?

Regarding your Christmas plan... I assume you are a K-3 visa holder, therefore you don't need AP to go oversees. K-3 visa allows you multiple times entry. On I-131 instruction, it says that K-3/K-4 holders don't need to submit the form. VJ FAQ says the same thing. Am I correct?

Windshield... wow, sucks.

But it's better than my car. Just before I went back to my country in June, I bought mine and left it for 3 months under Florida's sunshine.... When I returned US, my vehicle was dead, needed towing. Not only battery, but also many other malfunctions. It was right after 3 month insurance expired. It costed me $1,700. Ha ha, things happen.... :crying:

Hi Chris39

It took me several calls to USCIS until I got someone to send an action request messafe to the officer in charge of my case.

You need to keep calling them until a good samaritan at USCIS will send an action request to the officer in charge of your case , that's what took me to have them listen to my case, I was very persistant; once they send the action request make sure they give you a confirmation number.

They did a service request and I got the number. However, they just sent us an email saying that they had another six months to process the paperwork. Very frustrating. Was hoping to get an interview date.

We went to our interview yesterday in San Bernadino. My wife (K-1) and her 2 kids (now 15 and 18) all had separate appointment times on their letters (30 minutes apart). The first appointment was at 7:30 so we arrived around 7:20 and put all three letters in the box. We waited for about an hour and then they called all the names at once, so all four of us went into the agent's office. She wasn't rude but was not very warm either. She had all their applications in front of her and started with my wife. She would ask about items that were in the application and check them off. I'm not sure if she was just checking to make sure if the application was correct or making sure we didn't have false information on there. She asked things like what are your parent's first names, what is your date of birth, what city were you born in, etc. She also asked my wife if she was married before (yes), how the marriage was terminated (death of her spouse), the date, etc. All information that was on the application. She also asked my wife for our house address, phone number, social security number. She asked when was the last time my wife had entered the country and then checked her passport to see if she was correct. After going through my wife's form, she then asked whether my wife had used drugs, been arrested, voted in the US, been a prostitute, applied for K-1 or K-3 visa before and other questions I don't remember....all with "no" answers".

She then did the same thing for both the kids with basically the same questions. She did omit the prostitute question for my 15 year old daughter. After going through their applications, she asked for the original birth certificates for my wife and her kids. She carefully compared these to what was in the application along with the translations.

She then asked for proof of our relationship. I had brought along pictures of our wedding and pictures of my wife's father's funeral where we all went back to Malaysia and I was included with the rest of the family in all the rituals. I had copies of vehicles that showed ownership in both of our names, insurance forms, paycheck stubs of her son (he works at my company so the paychecks have our home address on it) and various other forms. We don't have any joint bank accounts and the house is still in my name. The agent kept asking if I had more proof. She said I had brought a large stack of papers into the interview (I had brought copies of all three AOS applications...and even a copy of the K-1 application because that had a lot of pictures in it too....and she asked if I had anything else in my stack) and by not giving her more information, I was delaying her decision. So...I went through my stack of papers and found a few more things with both our names and gave them to her. She did not ask for any information about me...like my birth certificate, marriage license, etc.

After a few minutes more of looking at her papers, she asked for my wife's and kids passports, got up and left the room. She came back with three letters stating they were approved. Their I-94 (not sure if this is the correct number) had been ripped from their passports, leaving only the glued on visa. She said not to use the AP letter and EAD cards, but wait for the GC which would be arriving in a couple of weeks. She did not take the AP or EAD forms and cards we had brought and never asked to see them.

The time in the office took about 30 minutes and although she wasn't friendly, I didn't feel the interview was going badly. If we didn't have something she asked about, we just said we didn't have it and it stayed at that. When she got up to leave, I wasn't apprehensive because it seemed that everything was ok...which it was.

So....that process is over.

Something to really give thanks for this Thanksgiving!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
