Wow. I hated my third-grade teacher, but I never considered killing her (and she was a real b1tch too).

I tried to poison a teacher once. Didn't really work (the poison wasn't strong enough), but

it made her sick for a couple of hours. That was good enough for me.

Ah I see - that clears it up. Still... a person who would do a thing like that probably doesn't have a lot of credibility to take a moral stand on the "horrors" of society. But that's just me.

Of course I could call my friends at MI5 and see what they have to say ;)

Um it was a joke. The whole point of that post is that I was being facetious.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

The article doesn't say, but what does the teacher do that makes her students feel like killing her? It has be be something pretty odious - of course it could be that kids today are all psychopaths in the making, a new and dangerous breed of kid fueled by tv and game violence. Maybe we should just enlist them and send them over to Iraq? After all, it's an ill wind that brings no body any good.

The media always gets blamed - its the classic scapegoat. First it was certain books, then rock music, now movies, TV and videogames get a turn. You'd think in a world where people espouse the importance on that most perennial of cliched phrases "personal responsibility" that we wouldn't be looking for external causes outside of bad/abusive parenting.

Without more information, we really have no idea what went on. All we know is some kids had some kind of plot to 'kill' a teacher. However, it's not at all clear that they would have carried out this plot, despite the presence of a knife and handcuffs. It's one thing to think you hate someone enough to kill them (at 9 years old, these manifestations of 'hatred' are quite common) and quite another to start cutting one up.

If one pretends that kids have never had these fantasies in the past then of course there is going to be some 'shock horror' at the 'state of kids today' However, while I don't remember having any plans to kill anyone, I can certainly remember those feelings of rage and hatred that one feels as a kid as one learns to deal with strong emotions and one starts to understand that there are things one is obliged to do apart from play all day.

I guess no one today reads books like 'The Lord of the Flies'. Maybe they're all banned?
