FOR ALL THOSE WHO HAVE GONE THROUGH THE PROCESS.

IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE AGAIN WOULD YOU GO THROUGH K1, K3 OR IR/CR? I HAVE BEEN WONDERING ABOUT THIS LATELY. THE K1 OR K3 BRINGS YOUR SPOUSE/FIANCE' SOONER BUT THEN WHEN THEY GET HERE THEN WHAT? THE IR/CR TAKES LONGER BUT THEY ARE READY TO WORK SOONER OR ARE THEY?

EVERYDAY I LOOK AT THE FORUMS OR PORTAL AND WONDER IF MY APPROVAL DAY WILL EVER COME.

NVC PLEASE HURRY UP AND PROCESS OUR PACKET 3.

I MISS MY HUBBY SO MUCH AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM NEXT WEEK.

Looking back at how long the process has been for us, I think the IR1/CR1 would have been better, but only because of how long we are waiting.

If VSC had still been processing in 30-45 days when we filed (which was right before the fee increase) he would have been here by now with the K1.

I would still do the K1. The primary reasons I would do it again is that I think its a simpler process and its usually quicker. It took us 5 months. My hubby flew in at Dulles so he didn't get a temp EAD. At times, when he was bored out of his mind at home, I regretted this decision but in the end I think it was best. Unless your spouse has lived in the US already it takes time to adjust to everything: How people talk, social expectations, understanding that everything has a process/procedure, being able to drive, going job search, application, interview and training. Even knowing how to navigate your way through a city (reading an address and make it to that destination without major problems). So I think there is ready to work where a person has proper documentation, and then ready to work where the person has an understanding of whats expected in terms of employer-employee, and how to deal with the public if they are in customer service and comfortable doing things on his or her own (driving to work, taking the bus, negotiating with a potential employer, etc.).

It also took us just 5 months, so again it would be the K-1 which to me was the fastest way and being that our case was filed at VSC made the difference too.

Of course you miss your husband so much and your time will be here before you know it! :clock: Remembering how I was then I think I was more impatient to have my husband here more then anything that I think I would have just died from the waiting period! :dead:

Hope you hear something soon, :)

As Rod Stewart said "if I knew then what I know now" or somethig to that effect, we would have never wasted the price of a postage stamp. We could have been together and married years ago, living a happy life rather than just existing as we are.

I read the topic title as "You #######!" instead of "you pick." I'm a wee bit disappointed that it isn't.

We did K1 because the idea of being married and living apart while husband and wife seemed worse than living apart while engaged. Plus we would have to get married before beginning the process, and for various reasons, that would have meant filing several months later than we did. At the time, K1 and K3 processing times were similar, though from what I hear now K3s wait a lot longer than K1s.

I would definetly do K1, the waiting is hell when your apart.! I much rather him in my arms while we do the rest of the process here. Besides there is so much work "under the table" the work thing never effected us. I guess we were lucky thanks to God...he got his temp EAD and his employer kept him working until he received his EAD. AOS was a breeze and now we get a break until Lifting Conditions.

I feel so bad for all those still in waiting! I keep you all in my prayers....

I would still do the K-1. It was quick and fairly painless. The adjusting of status in the US was also quick and painless.

Well, I think we would buck the trend of the other responders above and would trade our K1 ticket in for a IR1/CR1. but, our situation is probably unique as I have been spending most of my time here in the Phiippines with TinTin during the K1 journey. With any luck, we will be finally heading off to the USA this month (fingers crossed for our Embassy Interview this week on 4 April). If all goes well, our RFE-less journey will have taken 10 months. We definately had a bit of bad luck hitting the worst part of the "bubble" last summer when filing the application.

Warm Regards,

Samby

I would stick with the CR1. Because hubby could get his licenses, a job and go to school in a couple of months. I can't imagine him sitting around doing nothing. It was nice for him to develop his own life and own friends through these outlets. It was worth the extra 4 month wait.

If I had to do it again... i would definately do the CR/IR. Honestly, my petition took just as long as a CR/IR and they would have been less running around once he got here! But Hey he's coming today so in hindsight...It's ALL GOOD as long as the end result is the same! :luv: Being back in my Baby's arms! :luv:

Bless-ed & good luck to you both,

I would stick with my CR1. I hear so many problems arise when the spouse...usually the husband...arrives and cannot work. It took a bit longer than what other K1's for JA are taking but only by about 4 months. Thats not bad at all to me cause in the long run the time line to have a 2 year green card is much faster with CR1 vs K3 or K1. i think K3 was taking longer in some instances than CR1 cause of all the recent delays.

I think about how my husband could be here now had I applied for the K1...but I think I would have been rushing our realtionship by going from meeting each other to filing a finace visa 3 months later to living together 6months after that, to married. I think that would of been overwhelming to me. So to me the CR1 flowed a bit better.
