Irritating I-134 Questions

Hey Guys, I got my NVC letter 3 days ago, they gave me my case number and notified me that the application(I-129F) will be forwarded to USEM in Manila. Thank God!!

So right now I'm getting ready to complete my I-134 form and Supporting Documents, but I have some questions and concerns: ( I need as much opinion as possible please..Thanks! God Bless You All!)

1. Tax info is needed only if "self-employed"?

2. basically, Bank Info and Statement from Employer are the only two important documents needed to go along with I-134 form?

(If I'm NOT Self-employed, Do not own a House, etc...)

3. How much annual income is enough to support my fiancee?

(If I'm making 30-35 thousand a year, is that enough?)

4. How much reasonable amount of money is enough in your Bank/Savings?

5. If I own a car (paid and holding the title) is that considered as one of my valued assets?

Read where it says Required Documents, Section 2 (k) Page No.3 U.S. Consulate in Manila - K-1 Applicants

And also, read the instructions on the I-134 for the employment letter/bank statements.

1. Tax info is needed only if "self-employed"? Tax declartions are a requirement for employed and self employed.,

2. basically, Bank Info and Statement from Employer are the only two important documents needed to go along with I-134 form? follow the I-134 instructions about this.

(If I'm NOT Self-employed, Do not own a House, etc...)

3. How much annual income is enough to support my fiancee?

(If I'm making 30-35 thousand a year, is that enough?)it depends on the size of your household, check that info. on the link that was provided on the previous posts.

4. How much reasonable amount of money is enough in your Bank/Savings? as long as you meet the minimum income, bank statements are not that important.

5. If I own a car (paid and holding the title) is that considered as one of my valued assets?if you meet the minimum income you wont need to use your assets, but I supouse a car is not the kind of assets they'd accept if you did not meet the minimum income anyway

If your income is sufficient, you can simply skip all the asset relation portions of the I-134. Best practice is to include the last three years of tax transcripts. Even though they are not technically required, they are often asked for. If not available, no visa until they are supplied.

Unless you've got a passel (technical term) of kids, your income is sufficient.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Congrats for getting the NVC letter, I'm almost in the same boat as you. NVC sent the packet to the US embassy in BKK on March 26th!

Now to answering your questions.

1. I'm sorry, not sure

2. What do you mean by bank info? Bank statements? I know that the embassy in Bangkok doesn't wish to see that if you meet the criteria. I have a lawyer, and he said I don't need a letter from the employer (I am using a co-sponsor who makes well over the citeria) but it wouldn't hurt to have one, so I am going to get one anyways.

3. How many dependents do you have, as in how many people depend on your financially? If it's only you and your fiancee, then you are 100% fine. If you make 30-35k/year, you are WELL over the requirements. I am using a co-sponsor because I am just a student.

4. I am not sure because I didn't think it was necessary to show this, although every embassy is different, I'll let someone from your same embassy answer this.

5. People are going to give you different opinions on a car being an asset. In my opinion, a car is an asset, as an asset is usually something that tends to be a concrete investment. It usually appreciates in value, where as a car depreciates a value the second you drive it off the lot. Although some may view it as an asset because you CAN sell it for cash, but most likely nowhere near what you purchased it for. Basically it loses it's value and it's a dwindling, or depreciating asset. I am not sure how the embassy looks at this though, so sorry I couldn't be much help to you!!!

Good luck!!

Many embassies require tax returns (or tax transcripts), even though the directions on the I-134 say self-employed only. Our embassy requires recent pay stubs, w-2, the latest income tax return (not transcripts), and a letter from the bank. It specifically states so in the instructions (packet 3) given to my fiancee. It does not depend on whether you are self-employed or not. Some people say that if your income is high, you don't need to provide bank letter, I'm bringing one for my finacee's interview anyway.

It won't hurt to provide those things. Better safe, than sorrry.
