I am going to fly to Manila to be with my fiance on her interview. Our plan is to fly back together. I just dont know how long delibros will take to deliver the visa. Does anyone know how long it usually takes them if we stay in a hotel by the embassy? My interview is on April 22 and I have to be back to work on May 6. We want to leave as soon as we can so we can spend some of that time in the US together before I go back to work but I also dont want to schedule her flight to soon if she doesnt yet have the visa. What date do you think is a safe date for me to schedule our return flight?

Well, about the visa it depends. Try to ask the CO if it's ok you will pick-up the visa. If it's ok it only took 3 days. Good luck!!! :)

If you had already taken care of the document verification which means your fiance had paid for it like a month ago, then you can try to ask for visa pick up which will take 2-3 working days after interview date. And that's based on experience, paid doc verification on Dec 26, had interview on Feb 8, wasn't asked on doc verification coz it's really just random and requested for visa pick up on Feb 12, flew to WI on Feb 15. It's a matter of cleaning out the possible hindrances but of course as what the USEM website say, don't make final travel plans unless you have the visa in hand, meaning you are taking a risk but you can do a calculated risk... Good luck and God bless!

If you must make flight plans before you have the visa IN YOUR HAND, then please make sure that the tickets are refundable or at the very least changeable for a small fee. There are just too many uncertainies here... AR, Doc Verification (even if paid in advance, it's a new process and some have fallen into a black hole), RFE, Delbros Delays (if the USE does not honor your request for visa pickup), etc...

Good luck to you two, we do hope that all goes smoothly. :)

Very well said, Samby...

It's not a crime to be optimistic and assume that everything will work out according to what you have planned, BUT, you also gotta think about the things that can hinder your plans. You can fly and be with her on her interview but always keep at the back of your mind all the possibilities that could happen.

Good luck!

yeah I agree, I know she isnt guarenteed an aproval or a speedy delivery if approved. My dilemma has been that if I wait till she gets the visa and then make the flight arrangments for only a few days later the plane ticket prices almost double because of the short notice. We may just have to return on differnt flights to play it safe. She is just a little scared of flying that far alone and I also wanted to fly with her but maybe it is to hard to plan because of all the uncertanies

There is no way to be absolutely sure about document verification. As for delivery, my wife's visa was delivered to her office in Intramuros 2 days after the interview. Don't forget allowing for CFO which only takes a day, but part of it must be after the visa is issued.

I guess ultimately you have to determine what is cheaper, waiting to buy a ticket once the visa is in hand, or buying a ticket and possibly not being able to use it. You do have 6 months from date of issuance to enter the U.S. you could plan for her to come sometime later. Withh all the doc. verification that's going on lately, I'd be hesitant to plan so close to the interview.
