Hi All,

So I haven't been on this site for quite a long time. A friend of mine will be starting his very own visa journey in a couple of months.

He asked me for some advice since I've been through the process. As I read the posts and did some research on the CR1 process, it seems as though the USICS are now asking for some additional information or proof of a bonafide marriage.

When I went through the process, this was not a requirment, and wanted to get some input from you all on what would be appropriate to send?

Is there anyone out there that have recently been approved? What proof did you all send?

Is there anyone out there that recentley received an RFE? If so, what proof did you send and what additional information are they asking for?

When I sent my application back in 2006, I had only sent in a copy of the marriage cert and I was approved without an issue... I was wondering if that would work with this new requirment.

Thanks all.. and good luck to you in your journey.

We were approved February 15, 2008. We sent in our application in July.

With all the forms we also included:

1) a CD of photos from various trips we have spent together and the wedding. Someone has told me that if you include wedding photos, sometimes its important to include a photo of people who actually attended the wedding (ex: mom, dad, bro, sis).

2) a letter from two of my husband friends (and no they weren't notarized, just signed and dated with their contact info included). Basically saying they've met me on a few trips and had dinner a few times. What a nice person I am . . .

3) A print out of our Alaska Airlines mileage plan, showing our trips for the past 2 yrs.

That was about it. We didn't have commingled assets, or joint bank accounts. That is also good to show if you have them.

No RFE or anything.

My case was approved earlier this month without any RFE. Here's what I sent to USCIS:

    • Airline receipts and visa stamps showing trips to visit my spouse
    • Copies of phone bills showing our conversations
    • Copies of our letters sending to each other
    • Copies of our email correspondences
    • Copies of receipts for gifts
    • Evidence that my spouse is the beneficiary on my life and health insurance and my retirement account
    • Photos of us together with comments on the back
I kept all originals for my wife to bring during the interview.

Is all this info for the NVC or USICS??? Cause i was approve by the USICS without sending in nothing to show i was bonafide married to my hubby we are now at NVC stage (got one RFE for missing info on our Affidavit of Support) but no one has asked us thus far to provide proof of our marriage.

We sent in our marriage certificate and whatever info they asked for but no pictures or none of those other stuff i read about here....so please enlighten me as to what point in the process will they ask for all these proof.

Thanks much

This is for the I-130 application, so USCIS. A newer version asks for evidence of a bonafide marital relationship, and suggests things like photos, evidence of co-mingled assets, letters from friends etc.

We filed our I-130 April 2007 and these requirements were on the form then.

If you're at the NVC stage, then you don't need to worry about it until the interview.
