Yay!!

This is henceforth the Saturday AND Tuesday London meet up thread. :star:

Roll up, Roll up Ayingerbrau's all around

ETA: Sorry maven I posted that without having seen your post, and so hadn't thought of a particular pub. Well... we could at least start at the John Snow, and then if it starts to get packed etc. look for somewhere else? I'm trying to think of somewhere we could sit outside for the early part of the evening, if it's nice...

Mmmmm....Ayingerbrau. I know there's a good place near there with outdoor seating...let me put my drinkin'/thinkin' cap on.

yup, and it was a lovely day today, and the day before, bright and warm. As you know, british weather never stays the same for long!

It'd be nice to be able to sit outside for a while, but I'm not going to count on it!

Ditto! Even 10 minutes would be very heaven. :innocent:

Okay, right, I am going to stop prevaricating and messing about here because there is some drinkin' to be done. And that is not to be trifled with. So, without further ado:

Saturday 5 April UK VJ London Meet-Up

Meet 4.30 at the John Snow, 39 Broadwick St, London, W1F 9QP. I'm the very, very short (4'11") woman with waist-length dark brown hair, and I'll probably be reading either the Economist or Heat or fiddling with my Blackberry. I'll try to be downstairs. We'll see where the evening takes us!

Tuesday 8 April UK VJ London pre-Jeraly's Interview Meet-Up

Jeraly -- your turn to start planning! :D

 Done!

The John snow has outside standing anyway!

we could try for an early dinner on Tuesday?? (Would help prevent you being plastered for your later rendez-vous) or is that too much organising?

Nope, if that's fine with Jeraly, early dinner is fine. I have to get down to London Bridge for around 7.30ish.

Saying "rendez-vous" and associating it with my ex-husband is just so, so wrong. *shudders*

John Snow! How awesome is that!?! So it's you, me and Thomas F so far. StP -- you are forgiven for party-going. Sure you can't sneak in a quick pint beforehand?

I like that ECM will be reading either the Economist or Heat thereby swotting up on potential oub conversation pieces ranging from the Zimbabwe elections to Britney's cellulite

You know they sometimes put tables in the alleyway in the back of Glasshouse Stores - not sure if that qualifies as "sitting outside"

I've just realised I'm double-booked for Tuesday evening :(

I've just emailed the other people though to see if we can move it by even a day - hopefully that will be fine :)

or I can do a bit of both; I won't miss out altogether :)

my suggestions will sort of depend on how long I've got - I have a few favourite places in Soho (LOVE the Lido cafe; best selection of cakes ever :) ) and there's this fabulous restaurant whose name I always forget, but I know where it is - great decor, very quirky, and a good menu :)

I think it's called something basic like 'The Mediterranean' but I could be wrong ;)

there'd be loads of choices though; Marylebone is good too - closer for Jeraly - and I know it a bit cos I have friends who live there... even Giraffe would be fun :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.
