15 days to get the movement certificate a week to get the medical report. This is unfair because I just got the request for packet three yesterday with less than two weeks before the I-129F's expiration date.

I sure hope he can get some connections. It really does seem to be about who you know there and not what you know.

Thx for the info!

Hey there Olivia,

My husband had the same issue. If he can get some sort of connection, where someone can let him go for a few hours to go to the interview that would be fine. My husband actually did that. Everything in Egypt has to have connections to move along. He even knew someone who got him the movement certificate in two days, and Ive heard it takes 15 days.

So even if he goes to the interview, he can wait the time out. I'm sure it will still take a while with the A/P.

Best of luck! (F)

Where did they state that he needs the movement certificate or the medical report with the Packet 3? The medical report is given to you in the packet and that is for you to bring to the doctor at the med exam but you don't need to pass it in with the rest of the required documents. I don't see that they asked for a movement certificate so I wouldn't worry about that. They never asked my husband for one.

Also, are you sure they know what they're doing? They said "your fiance". I have a feeling they don't *get* that he's on active duty right now. I would write a more specific email to someone higher up then NM and see what happens. Remember my 8 month AP was mostly due to the fact that they processed our case as a K-1 for so very long up until a few weeks ago. Seriously you need to ascertain that they have all the facts from you and it doesn't seem like they have digested it. If you want an email to a higher up I suggest emailing Mr. Herman at hermannrc@state.gov and put the red urgent flag on the email and cc both your congressman and your senator.

I'm thinking police certificate is like movement certificate.

3. Police certificate from every country where the applicant lived for more than 6 months since the age of 16 (not all are obtainable or required; call us at 02-797-2201 for further information)

7. Medical exam for applicant list attached

Thx for information on the higher up. I noticed that too about calling him my fiance'. Maybe it is time to get the congressman and senators and higher ups involved because this is an unusual case. Where to begin with that detailed letter though?

No the police certificate is very different and should only take about 3 days to do. Not sure if he has to request it in person though. The movement certificate is something that is only occasionally asked for and no one knows why. There was a theory out there that it is for men who are exempt from military but my husband was exempt and they still didn't ask for it.

The medical form isn't something needed to be passed in with the packet 3 info. It is given to you in the packet 3. Seriously I don't think this embassy knows what they're sending you and I think you need to email Mr. Hermann with or without the congressman/senator immediately to let them know your situation. I mean what if you run around doing all this and he can't even go to the interview?

I'll write Mr. Hermann a detailed letter and hope for a response back. I know that the Senators and Congressman have an immigration staff so I probably should carbon copy them as well.

Here is my letter to Mr. Herman & I am working on my drafts to the Senators and Congressman. There are two of each and I am wondering how many do I involve in this process?

hermannrc@state.gov

Monday, April 07, 2008

Dear Mr. Herman,

I am writing you this because I was given your contact information for a higher up who may be able to sort out our case and offer proper guidance. I have encountered several problems that need to be fixed internally with processing our visa application. Please allow me to explain.

First the facts: My name is Olivia (last name) DOB: (here) I am a United States Citizen currently attending the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. My Husband who is a Doctor and an Egyptian Citizen is Alhusain (rest of name) DOB: (here). On behalf of my Husband I have applied for the K3 visa on June 6th, 2007 which includes the I-130 and I-129F paper work. The USCIS sent our I-129F to the NVC and kept our I-130. Our case number for our I-129F from the NVC is: (Case number here) and was sent on Jan. 14th, 2008 to the United States Embassy Visa Unit in Cairo.

My first concern is in my correspondence with the Consular’s they address my Husband as my Fiancé in the emails. This has me concerned that they are under the impression they are processing a K1 visa which is incorrect. It is a supposed to be the K3 visa.

My second concern is in the paperwork I have received from the NVC it states my Husbands name as Alhusain (wht they put) which is also incorrect. In my original application I stapled an addendum that included his full middle name since it was too long to fit in the appropriate section of the paperwork and I signed and dated this addendum. It should be included in the packet of information along with my application.

My third concern is I have sent several correspondences via email to the consular addressing specific challenges we are currently facing and I asked questions seeking guidance about our case and have received canned messages back. I have attached all correspondence so you may review what I am talking about.

My fourth concern is I just received the request for packet three two weeks before the expiration of the I-129F on April 13th, 2008. This hardly seems a fair amount of time for my Husband to get he ducks in order especially concerning he is in active military duty which I also addressed in the email correspondence that to this date has gotten no specific reply back. His next off duty break is on April 11th, or April 12th and this will only give him 1-2 days to collect everything requested in the letter we received for packet three. Some of those items requests may take more time to retrieve then the time that was allotted us.

My fifth concern is specific and was mentioned in my emails to which I need a reply back on how to proceed further with our visa process. This Jan. 2008 my Husband was collected by the Egyptian Military, to our surprise, among 800 other Egyptian Doctors and taken into active duty. He is currently serving in Suez City on the Sinai Peninsula. He has three weeks on and one week off every month while serving in the Egyptian Military. The Egyptian Military took his passport so we are unable to include that in packet three and we are under the impression that the Embassy rejects any packet that is not complete.

Also my Husband has an official letter from the Egyptian Military stating that he is to serve until March 1st, 2009 with the option of an additional two months if needed. This makes it possible he may not get out until May 1st, 2009. Our case is unique in that no Egyptian I have talked with, including other women married to other Egyptian, and the branches of various Egyptians they have talked with have ever heard of the Egyptian Military taking a man married to a foreign spouse especially for this amount of time as it is believed it compromises their national security. Regardless of which they have him and I don’t. I need to know the best possible thing to do about our visa process while we wait for the Egyptian Military to release my Husband.

In addition I will be sending a copy of this correspondence and all my correspondence with the Embassy to my Senators and Congressman to receive further support, clarification, and guidance in this process. My hope is that some kind of exceptions or extensions may be made in regards to our case. Please advise us further.

Thank you for your continuing support,

Olivia (last name here)
