he took royal air maroc to NYC then transferred to jet blue to arrive in LA. Jet Blue is who lost his suitcase with all his things! They never found it and gave a really meager compensation to say the least........

Mine brought...

2 or 3 pair of shoes (dress, sandal, sneakers)

a suit

2 or 3 pairs of pants, i think

2 or 3 shirts

a few pair o undies

a few pair o socks

a coupla ties

a box of pictures

MOST IMPORTANTLY... a book that has allllll his friends and families phone numbers, addresses, and emails. within this book, he also had his sisters write down recipes as best as they could so he could learn to make them OR at least teach me to make them.

That is how I learned most of my arabic recipes thus far. We couldn't have done it without that book. I HIGHLY recommend ur SO to get a recipe book put together with his mamas recipes (or whoever actually cooks meals for him) --- u know, now that I think about it..I think they told him and he wrote it down... either way..very important to have for us.

He also brought gifts for my family.

The only problem I have with the recipes is that the veggies and spices over there have different names so they weren't even able to describe what the ingredients were in a way that I'd know them. Hopefully he can recognize them when we go food shopping together. (pray that he doesn't try to bargain the price of an apple in Stop n Shop!!! )

That is exactly what we did. I forgot to add that he did bring some spices with him and we took them to the store and matched them up...even asked some ppl at the nature store what types of leaves he brought.. (thyme, chamomile, sage, etc) It wasn't easy but we figured it out.

OMG I about lost my soda on this one

I think my husband is going to bring his coffee cup. because we bought it togeather when i was there, And he wont let any family member use it. I told him to pack his best cloths. I have so much for him here.

He loves american and Mexican food so i'm not gona worry about the recipes. But I do have his moms chicken recipe. I really dont like most the food there so i wont cook it.

I think he will pack some of his art books. They will be handy when he learns to tattoo with me. (he is a artist)

I know he will pack all his dogs toys and muzzels and that stuff.

And last our laptop.

haha yes the long underwear and the spices. For sure there are better long undies available around here than the ones he brought but our spices dont begin to compare, not the ones from the arab and international stores and not even the ones from whole foods and penzeys. When his mom was coming here for the birth of the baby she kept asking me what I want and all I wanted was some good fresh spices from the souk! :)

Long underwear (surprisingly they have warmer, nicer long johns there)

One of those heavy velour blankets per my request.

A cd of family photos.

A small phone book with contact info for various family members and friends back home.

Important documents

Tea

A little knick knack that belonged to his grandmother.

One of his father's galabiyas.

Don't worry about the bargaining. Not everyone acts like Borat when they get here.

::There’s a laugh in my eyes::

There’s a waltz in my walk

And it’s been such a long time

Since there was hope in my talk

If you never knew

What it is that’s new.. it’s you

‘Cause when your hands are in mine

You set a fire that everyone can see

And it’s burning away

Every bad memory

To tell you the truth

If it’s something new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

The world’s a different place

Where nothing’s too hard to say

And nothing’s too hard to do

Never too much to go through

To tell you the truth

Everything that’s new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

My life, my life

Ohh

So if I get to grow old (oh if I get to grow old)

With many years behind me (many years behind me)

There’s only one thing I want (aahh)

One thing I need beside me

For all that you are

For everything you do

For all that you’ve done

Just for showing me the truth
