Item #11 on Form 1-134 Help pls!

hello! can anyone please help me out? i just received the form 1-134 from my fiance (USC). I noticed that on item #11 "I ( ) intend ( ) do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item 3" my fiance checked DO NOT INTEND and wrote on the space below NONE. Is that correct? He says that the form itself says that he is willing to support me so why does he have to say he needs to make specific contributions? I am not sure if this is correct. I have a feeling that he shouldn't have even checked the box at all. Any USC who has done this before? What should he have done? My interview is on April 23. We can't afford any mistakes at this point. PLEASE HELP ME ANYONE OUT THERE?

as the form indicates "specific contributions" i would assume he filled out the form cirrectly. It would seem to me that only in the case of "specific" things being arranged, the answer would be none. This is just my perspective when looking at the language of the form.

Ok... I dug out my old paperwork and according to my copy of the I-134 that I used for my interview, we put "N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence)".

I had an attorney prepare my I-134 and in block 11 he checked "intend" and below that put the following statement: I will provide for all their expenses. "Their" meaning my fiance and her son. My recommendation would be to have your fiance fill out another form and make sure it's notarized.

This is indeed confusing and probably depends on ones perspective. For Myla and I we filled up the form online at the same time and just sending each other the form thru yahoo during chat until we agreed on all the entries.

For question # 11 we checked the box for I intend and on the space provided below. .we wrote " I intend to make specific contributions for my future spouse______________ once she arrives in the USA with regards to her basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing and other provisions such as access to her family in the Philippines like phone calls and internet etc. ......."

Actually it was also my perception that I should put NONE but, she thought that it would be better to be specific. Didn't want to argue, hehehe.

Hopefully there is one here who checked I DO NOT INTEND, on their I-134 and did just fine during the interview to give you peace of mind.

Oh dear, I think I better call him now and tell him to make a new form I-134. Actually we had a discussion regarding this and he insists that he did the right thing. On my part, I didn't even like the sound of it that he "DOES NOT INTEND" for make contributions for support? What was he thinking? Anyway, I have to make that call so we can save time. Joe, I do hope someone shares her/his experience of checking "DO NOT INTEND" and got an approval.

For question # 11, I also checked the box for "I intend" and wrote on the space "To provide room and board" just to be on the safe side.

VJ guides used to have a sample I-134 form and that's what I used when we did our Affidavit of Support... Never had any problems with it. You really don't have to check either one since once you get here in US, you'll get marry and that means you'll be sharing everything. But anyway, do whatever floats your boat.

From what I've read, this form is a catch all for anyone sponsoring a Visa. So that particular question doesn't actually have relevance in the K-1/K-3 petitions. I think that if you put a N/A as Mae said and list the reason as the K-1 process, there hasn't been any problems specifically because of that. But fill it in as makes you feel most secure.

That's the one that we used and obviously, we never had any problems during my interview.

my husband checked "I intend" and wrote "will provide and support my wife with all her needs, etc..." but one of the girls i was sitting with during the interview had the "do not intend" checked and she didn't have any problems with it (she's on K1 too) I think both of you should fill out that form where you're both comfortable like Joe and Myla did. I have an attorney and we also filled out "intend" and wrote "All expenses as needed." (Fiancee only for my petition)

I also recommend that your fiance provide you with a corrected form. If you have little time, I've used Fedex International Priority for shipping. It's only a 3-day difference between the U.S. and the Philippines, so it is very fast and it has been reliable for me on 2 occasions where we were in a hurry.

I guess at this point in time, the OP will get even more confused because of all the different responses she's getting. I'd still say that the sample I-134 is the best guide since it is specifically made for K-1.
