This question's been bothering me eversince i read the topic of the lady who got denied by the consul in China because they just met once and didnt get a chance to meet again after 1.5 yr.Me and my fiance just met once too,he came here May of last year,we just applied for a K1 recently and because of lots of fees to be paid,we both decided he should not come back and just wait for me to go home to him so he can save.will this affect us?we have a bonafide relationship,we talk a lot on the phone,we chat everyday,in fact we dont turn off our computers and webcams even if he's already sleeping, the only time that we'll turn it off is when he will be leaving for work, even during his 2 days off,we dont turn off our computers and webcams,it may sound funny but it's true.we never missed chatting and talking since day one that we met.

Judging from the timelines of those who filed in CSC,by the time that i'll have my interview,it'll be 1yr and 5mos that we didnt see each other in person. Will be enough reason for the consul to deny me just like what happened to the lady in China?

Any insight or advise will be greatly appreciated.

There is no requirement to have met more than once. You have had to meet within 2 years of filing the k1 petition. Save copies of your chat logs and phone records for the interview. It also helps to have written correspondence like cards and letters. You have nothing to worry about. From what you describe of your daily communication it will be more than sufficient if you can document it. Best wishes.

The only requirement is that you have met in person once in the last 2 years. Besides that, other visits would only go to prove the validity of your relationship. If you have other ways to prove your relationship you should be fine.

at least you met within 2 years. is not crazy if cam is on even he is sleeping. we don't shut off our PC too back then to proved me he is not married

Awww  Smart woman :D

It sounds fine to me manilagirl, and not that unusual either, so I wouldn't worry so much. I would take tsup's advice though that you document as much of your chatlogs/emails/whatever else as you can, just in case they wanna give you a hard time

thanks,i was fine until i read that topic,i realized we were in the similar situation on that part, that's why i got worried,it was my fiance who told me to post a question here so i'll get good advice from you guys.i have saved all our chatlogs, screenshots, emails but not the fone calls because he's using like a prepaid where he put money on his fone so he could make a call or text me.other than that i have every proof we need.

The webcam thing, yes,we're already used of not shutting it down even if we both go out, sleeping or just simply doing nothing :D

thanks everyone for your insights,it really made me feel better now.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it is a lot harder to get a K1 in China then in the Philippines. I know its hard enough out of the Philippines, so you can imagine just how hard it is for someone from China.

I have not seen my fiance for 15 months already but we have met twice within the last 2 years...So I guess we are pretty much in the same situation. If they decide to give me a hard time and interrogate me during the interview (maybe in a month's time or so), I guess I will just tell the truth as to why we have not seen each other for that long..... "A nice wedding is expensive, so we wanna save enough for that... " :star:

So I'll say, no worries and I believe you will do fine...:)

Cheers!

Thank you for the replies,it helped me feel better.yes,i've been saving our conversations and those that can prove our relationship.i bet we'll be ok. :)

yea my fiance just had her interview in ecuador. We met just once. Her visa was refused and the consul requested that me the u.s. petitioner come to interview. It just all depends of the officer i think. I wouldnt risk it if i could go back and do it again. now i have to wait until agust for the joint interview.

I was gonna say this before but as I don't think it's "official advice" or anything that can be proven, I didn't want anyone to think it was necessary.

But I have read a couple times that a lot of people, and seemingly a lot of the more strict embassies, look more favorably on the relationships they're clearing if it seems like you have a good relationship with your fiance's family. Maybe if you've already met your SO's family then, leading up to the interview you can shoot them a couple emails? Just keep in touch, start building that foundation, or whatever else...just in case...

I really wouldn't put any technical, legal weight on this being a requirement at all. But if it came down to the embassy requesting the USC fly over for the interview, it might would make a difference in they're finding that necessary.

You know, when people get denied there is something more than they think it is.

Besides the fact that they could have had less luck than somebody else, they could have had something else in their paperwork that bothered the consular enough not to issue the visa, plus, even if the visa is denied it's temporary, till you can add some required(and missing) information from your portfolio.

I would say you need to have faith.

And,God willing, you'll be fine.

good luck.

I visited my then fiance twice before submitting the petition. after submitting the petition, I was unable to visit her again. it was 16 months from the time we were last together till her interview. for the interview, she didn't have any emails, snail mails or chat logs to use as evidence. we socked it to em with page after page of phone records of almost daily phone calls.

the important thing is to have solid evidence, in whatever form it may be, of a genuine ongoing relationship.

you should be fine.
