Well, I started my journey around september of 2006, on 3/28/07 We had our appointment, we worried about the smallest details on paperwork and even handwriting! We showed up to the Consulate at around 5:30 AM, and waited in line until around 7:30, After we got in the nice lady at window 21 collected our information, what i found weird was that she collected just the 156 ( both ), the 230, and the affidav of support (I used the 864). After she collected that information and helped my fiancee fill out the dates (she was so nervous that she couldnt write). We sat back down and were called to window 13 to have her finger prints taken. I still had all my tax information, the translations, the pictures basically all my evidence still in hand. After like 30 minutes we were called to Window 17, We knew that this was it, It was time for the invertivew, We show up to the window and the gentleman asks us if we were married before (We were and got divorced because I was in the Air Force and we couldnt maintain the relationship). I explained that to him and told him that we always stayed in touch and after I got out we started the process so she can come home with me. He asked us if we were still married and we told him no. He asked me if I had an appartment or house, one or two bedrooms and if she would be staying with me. He asked if we had any children. He never asked for any pictures , my tax returns, NOTHING. He said congrats heres your green slip, just pay the 12$ for delivery fee and wait for the visa, its approved!! I was dumbfounded that all this wait and anticipation for so long as over so fast! My fiancee almost burst into tears and we gave eachother the biggest hug and sigh of relief. We paid our 12 bucks and were on our way! Now we are just hoping that we get the visa before our flight on saturday.

I would like to thank you guys here on these forums, I pretty much started this entire process and guided myself with the information you provided, you guys are life savers (and makers)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

- Nelson

PS

i read that there were some other people from the forums at the dominican republic consulate on Friday, if you remember faces i was the big guy wearing all black and a nice tie.

congratulations to you

@YMR, couple received NOA-2 2007 January, does it really take that long to get an interview date in Dominican Republic?

Yes, it was 2-3 years in the past. THe main problem is that here people get fake papers, documents and the Consulate has to investigate a lot about each paper submitted.

An example is the police record, if you have a problem with the police, court or whatever it is and your name is in the police computer with a record, easily with some money you can get a clean report without problems. So once, you get the police record and submit it to the consulate with the packet, they go back with their investigation unit to check if your name is in the computer or not. Mainly to check if the record is for real. They do that for each document requested and submitted. THis is the main reason for the delays.

Anyway, now is faster because here in DR now the birth certificates, ID and so on are into a computarized system in the past each paper investigation was done MANUALLY.

Yes a lot of dust there.

 CONGRATULATIONS!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
