Now, shall we return to the topic ? (the removal of checkpoints, as promised to Condoleezza Rice)

Was Palestine a country before Israel was established?? YES or NO???

At the end of the day that region was under Turkish control for hundreds of years. After that England took over that section. Therefore it was theirs to do as they please. Consequently they returned it to the people who have lived there the longest.

Why don't the Palestinians complain about all of the other middle east nations who took control of that region?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Why would they complain about other countries that have nothing to do with their current day to day situation and political self-interest?

If someone's treading on your foot you'd probably be more concerned with the person currently treading on your foot and not any and every person who at one time or other happened to tread on your foot.

Who is treading on whose foot again.. Is Israel the one attacking them, like cowards, on a daily basis?

Those people have had to defend themselves since day one. Yet the Palestinians have the audacity to come and and pretend they are the victim.

Well as usual that's to simplify a rather complex situation.

Seems simple enough. Stop firing rockets at civilian targets.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I'm sure it would seem simple to someone who makes pedestrian statements which they back up with extreme websites dredged up from Google.

It seems to me that there needs to be a re-education attempt on both sides. Israelis and Palestinians are all fed reports that are purposefully cherry-picked with the intent to make the opposite side look like an inhuman monster. This, of course, makes fighting the other much easier -- after all, how difficult is it to kill a group of people who are "baby killers?"

There is some truth to the news reported, however. Palestinian terrorist groups do target civilian centers with the intent to injure and/or murder as many Israelis as possible. This wide-spread terror prompts Israel to retaliate and strike back at the Palestinian neighborhoods that the IDF believes harbors these terrorists. Unfortunately, many of the Palestinians in these areas usually know very little about the details regarding terrorist strikes (or are told some sort of cover story) and they only see the Israeli Defense Force destroying their homes and possibly killing some of their people. This, of course, makes them angry and breeds more resentment, which further pushes the terrorist groups to attack Israel. The cycle keeps going from there.

It's difficult to know what came first: the chicken or the egg in this instance, but all that really matters is that it's a non-stop cycle and the only way to keep it from happening is to break the chain somewhere along the way. This would probably require effort from both Israelis and Palestinians to do and making that happen would be quite a trick.

I agree with you. The world community must try to stop this endless cycle of violence.

There are hateful websites against all religions. VJ has members from every faith in the face of this earth. So it is not helpful to antagonize members by copying and pasting hateful weblinks.
