So I filed for the AOS for my wife who came here on a K1 visa back in October. We got married within the 90 day window and I filed the AOS with I131 (adv parole) in December 3 2007. UCSIS received my app later that week on the 6th. I got a notice from them in January that some information was incomplete. I sent it back on Jan 18th and they received it on Jan 24 2008. We got a notice on Jan7, however, for the biometrics appt. That date was in Feb 2. About beginning of this month we got the I-131, advanced parole approval.

When will we get a request for interview or medical exam? I am confused about this also, is the interview required? How about the medical exam? She came here on the K1 and had to have a medical exam done back in her home country for the K1 visa...doesn't that meet the requirement?

How long after this can we expect the green card? Our case is at the National Benefits center (although we never filed for EAD) and it says January 8 2008. So does that mean we should be getting something in the next couple of weeks?

thanks in advance

Some AOS cases get approved without an interview. Its ussualy the case for most cases that get transfered to california.

As long as your medical from the K-1 process was still valid (valid for 1 year), all you would have needed to provided was the vaccination suplement sheet.

The processing times very depending on your local office. Check here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp and enter your local office in the field office section. If you are to have an interview, NSC will send your application to the local office who will in turn send you the interview notice. However you can also be transferred to the CSC and approved without an interview.

When you get the interview notice is whenever they will be ready to process you for it. It used to take an average of 6 months, but now USCIS warns for a much longer wait to be expected.

They will not request you to do a medical exam as it. Your wife should have done the medical exam back in her country and then in the us obtain the vaccination sheet to send with the AOS package. If you have not done that you will need to take care of it and expect a RFE, in the best case bring it to the interview.

And yes your case is and should be at NSC it does not matter if you applied for EAD or not. All AOS goes there.
