What are the Ports of Enterance in the US? I feel stupid asking this  but I've been looking over the guides and other questions asked and haven't foud an answer. Is JFK the only POE? Is there a POE in Colorado? If this is in one of the guides and I missed it, I'm so sorry. I was just curious about it since I've seen so many questions about POEs recently.

I was actually wondering that the other day myself...

Maybe everywhere's a port of entry. Would love to see 'the official immigration' dude's look of surprise at having to actually do something if my SO flew into our tiny tiny hometown airport...

Summer 2001 - met my Scottish boy

December 18th, 2007 - proposal in Madrid's Botanical Gardens with a duck standing behind him going 'food?'

January 18th, 2008 - I-129F sent to VSC

January 31st, 2008 - received NOA1, issued Jan. 24 :)

February 24th, 2008 - NOA2; omgwtfbbqlolz

February 29th, 2008 - NVC letter sent

The port of entry is the FIRST airport you step into after receiving the visa and leaving your home country. It could be your connecting flight. It could be your final destination.

How many airports are there in the US that have flights from your country? That answer will be how many POE's there are in the US at your disposal.

My husband came through Miami.

If your tiny tiny hometown airport has a direct flight from a foreign country, it is a POE and has seen and processed before.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

ANY US airport that you fly into from abroad on a K-1 is the POE. Many here talk about JFK because many flights from Europe and Asia go thru JFK, so that would be your POE, even if you connect to another US city. Also, JFK is one of the only airports that gives the temporary work authorization stamp, so some people specifically come in thru JFK just for that reason.

I don't know if it'd be hilarious or just plain terrifying that they'd do it wrong for Iain to come directly to Greenville, then  Oh my goodness no

We usually connect in Newark which is where lots of seemingly really disorganized kind of scary immigrants-themselves workers scream at you the whole time certain orders that you don't understand, and then you get through it all and realize they were actually amazingly proficient and totally know what they're doing :D I like Newark.

Thank you so much for all of your helpful advice! Does anyone know if there's a POE in TX (or somewhere near there) that does the work stamp thing?

Hey,

I don't think that there are any POEs besides JFK that stamp for K-1 work permits- land crossings or airports. (Though I could be mistaken.) As far as I know, if you want to get the work stamp, you pretty much have to get a direct flight from Guat. to JFK, or maybe he could fly into Mexico City first and then to JFK (not sure).

Also, I saw the VD for your fiancé. If you are going to file for an I-212 and/or an I-601 waiver, I highly recommend checking out this web site: www.immigrate2us.net You will find many helpful, non-judgemental people in your situation there. The resources are great too.

Any airport that is an international airport is a POE. I belive most of them are on or near the coasts for fuel reasons.

Does JFK still give stamps for work permits? My fiance wants to begin working immediately when he gets here, but I read somewhere that JFK rarely gives these stamps anymore. It is cheaper for him to fly to miami first, but I would be willing to pay a little more to get him the stamp.

There will be a border crossing when they come into the US. The admission will occur at the border crossing point or entry point in the US. The POE can be by land, ship or airplane.
