I will like to know from someone who have filled the EAD seperately without the AOS application. Did U include an additional 70 dollars with the 180 EAD fee for the biometries? Pls I need ur advise here.

You do not need to pay for biometrics when you are applying for EAD the fingerprint fee is included in the cost....

Not sure but I think the biometrics fee is seperate. The $180 is just the base fee.

It is just one fee as the others have said $180.00. Biometrics and finger prints are included in that amount.

So if you have not yet filed for anything else you must pay an additional fee. The only time you dont pay for biometrics is if you have filed for AOS and paid for biometrics for that.

If you will file for AOS after getting your EAD it may be that you wont have to pay for biometrics again then.

In the mean time if you have not yet paid for biometrics at all and are just applying for an EAD then u need to pay biometrics

Yes that is exactly why am confuse about this cos it says an additional 70 dollars if U have not done any biometrics before. I don't want to apply for the AOS yet but just the EAD since I came here on a k3 visa. Just read ian read from the uscis that an additional 70 dollars is needed and this confuse me alot right now.

My wife didn't. (K3, applied for EA long before applying for AOS.)

Further confusion comes from using the same term - biometrics - for both the EAD photo and fingerprint and the AOS photo and full set of fingerprints. They are two quite different processes. The EAD photo and fingerprint is for the purpose of putting them on the card. The AOS photo and fingerprints are digitized and stored (and are theoretically retrievable) to be input to computer recognition software for comparison identification. (And the fingerprints are transmitted to the FBI to be checked.) It's the expensive high-tech aspect of the AOS biometrics that justifies the $70 fee.

The instruction is puzzling, because it doesn't seem to accurately reflect what's really required.
