Anyone in WINDSOR ONTARIO?

Hello,

I am considering and likely going to follow through with a move to Windsor Ontario sometime this year.

I've looked at different places to rent, but don't know the area 100%.

If anyone here lives, lived, or knows the area well, can you please tell me which areas I should avoid, and which would be more ideal.

Living on my own, I want to be in a safe area.

I used to live in Chatham, but I don't know the Windsor neighbourhoods very well. Why not get in touch with one of the MPPs there and ask their office for advice about good areas in which to live or places to avoid? They probably have a good idea.

My wife's parents moved over by the Lauzon and Walker area,on the "outskirts" of Windsor and it's really nice and everything is newly built. Very awesome looking and they're extremely happy with the area

Kathryn.. wow... I had NO idea that you could do that!

I NEVER called my MP for anything.. nothing.. nada.. I thought he was incredibly uneducated and ill prepared for his position so I'd have never thought to call HIS office at all

hehehe, even if the MP or MPP is incredibly uneducated and ill-prepared for his position, he has staff - and his staff may be what keeps him in office if they are good at their jobs:-). They should be able to give you advice or direction. I know I used to get similar calls all the time and would do what I could to help out. (I had a great MP - very well educated, well-prepared for his job and a superb MP - we had people of other political parties tell us regularly that they voted for him because he was so good rather than for the representative of their own party. He was re-elected 5 times and finally retired due to health reasons).

I live about 40 minutes outside of the city, so I'm not entirely sure of what places to look into/avoid.

If you'd like to avoid trouble, probably wise to avoid finding a place too close to downtown.

I currently live in windsor and hate it and can't wait to get out. The people are fairly nice, but the environment is brutal...we get ALL the polution from detroit. The smog is brutal and it stinks all the time. Ive lived in windsor almost all my life, and would never reccomend it to anyone. The cancer rates are higher and respiratory illnessess are much higher in windsor than other places in ontario and canada. Windsor does have lots of good food though and its very multicultural. Keep in mind the city has been on strke for almost 3 months now...so no grass being cut, no garbage collection, etc...just tons of picketers....its all the outdoor workers and indoor workers striking and there is no end of the strike in sight. Oh yeah, and the mayor is the worst mayor ever!!! He doesn't care about his city whatsoever! You shoudl really re-consider moving there.

I've already moved, but I'm outside of Windsor in Amherstburg. I love it. Nice little town, quiet, friendly. It takes me about 20 mins to get to the bridge.

My wife used to work at the local paper, the Amherstburg Echo, and it was awesome to visit her as the building it's in looks right into the water. Very nice town, and the Subway there always made me the biggest friggin subs haha

Amherstburg is definately a nice little town...much better than Windsor.

If looking to rent in Windsor, I would stay away from downtown and the west end. East and South ends of Windsor have some nice areas to rent, as does riverside.
