Bringing Children of Husband into US, what do I need to do as US citizen wife?

Hi all,

It's been a while since I last posted anything here but I always come and check the questions to see if I can give some advise or my opinion ;) . I have a situation and I hope I can get some good advice here. My husband just recently found out that he has a child in Romania who is going to be 4 years old. To make a long story short, the child's mother no longer feels she can raise this child and wants to give my husband full custody (legally) of this child. I am willing to legally adopt this child and raise him with my husband. What or how do we proceed with this procedure :help: ?My understanding from the child's grandmother is that the mother has not even registered a birth certificate for this child.

Can someone give us some guidance on this situation please? My husband has been in the USA now since May 2007 as a Legal Resident and his conditions will be removed in 2009. Please advice and thank you in advance for all your support and help (F) .

You can file an I-130 as a step parent of the child, the process is much like filing one for a spouse.

You will need a birth cert proving that your husband is the child's father.
