Not all fat people are fat because they choose to be. There are many reasons for being overweight. You should try to be more understanding of others, rather that using put downs. Cos being thin doesn't make you a good person any more than being fat makes you a bad person.

Well, you are obviously a pefect human specimen so you could never understand.

I'm sure the homosexual population would thank you for your comments as well.

Oh, as promised in my earlier post. I asked my former wife, her opinion, since she has been an arrival and a departure this week at a Texas airport. She said she noticed no more obese people in the airplane, airport, or Texas in general than any where else she has been.

I've found that people who have utter disgust for fat people are always deficient in ways other than their tolerance. It's the same sort of fear that has people thinking they are better than another ethnicity. Or the same sort of stupidity that has young people thinking they are better than old people. The thing is, when karma bites them in the *ss for their blind intolerance, they'll be too blind to recognize why.

Hmm...I wish I remembered which airport I was at. It is true of course that airports are obviously transit places so not everyone in a Texas airport are Texans, or even the majority. But it was just SUCH a weird case.

Texas is ginormous though. I bet it varies so so much from city to city. I've never been there besides the airport but I have this massive kind of terrifying image of it and these loooooooong roads getting from place to place.

evdogg's just intentionally obnoxious why do ya'l let it bother you :P I do have to say though I'd thought of it too...:( It's a BIT worrying if you're paranoid about flying anyway, when you gotta figure there's like...a good few thousand extra pounds onboard than the designing engineers originally accounted for. Plus ALL the luggage. Gah that's another thing. Every time I go to the airport now every person has like EIGHT bags with them or something; it's' like everyone's moving house for a one week vacation.

Maybe it's just perspective but as a young person I think I see a lot more old people thinking they're better than US. And their parents thought they were better than THEM, etc etc etc. Every new generation has to hear ####### about 'back in my day' and how it's the apocalypse and we're so disrespectful and useless and unproductive and unappreciative etc etc, isn't it always like that?

Why is everyone so sensitive? Of course there's two sides to every story, or probably more like a hundred sides to every story. It seems like everybody has some really deep seated grudges or something :(

I love how it's "eating isn't my problem!"

Thyroid problems are in the vast minority of obese people.

Yes, you probably eat too much. Sad, huh?

Not that I care. Develop diabetes, hypertension, and die for all I care. I worked in an emergency room long enough to understand these things. However people want to live their lives is not my concern.

Although when you're sitting next to me on the airplane, please try to contain your fat within your seat. Just because my bulk does not take up the entire airplane seat does not give you permission to take over.

I don't think everyone is "so" sensitive. I think that a lot of people feel absolutely justified in completely discounting a person because he or she is fat. Just look back through the posts on here. Not all of them fit what I'm talking about, but enough of them do. No one would use that kind of dismissive language about another group of people in this sort of forum and expect to be taken seriously. (A neo-nazi forum, yes. A teenage forum, perhaps.) As for young people thinking they are better than old people, you would have been counted as an old person in my reckoning. If you are old enough to be filing a petition for a fiance or a spouse, you are old enough to be considered old by a lot of young people. I was thinking of teenagers thinking that youth is an achievement and people in their thirties are old and gross. I was trying to compare the righteousness of people who hate fat people to that kind of silly, stupid attitude.

But as for what you say, old people aren't better than you just because they are older, but they are older. One day, you will be older too. I don't know if I'm older than you or not, but until I learn I am, I would assume we are the same generation. While a lot of old people might be bitter and say things that are inaccurate, I'm giving them my respect anyway. I was raised that way. I will raise my child that way. And one day I will be old. I think that until I show that I don't deserve respect, by doing something that is actually bad, my age will mean I deserve respect from young people.

I love how it's "eating isn't my problem!"

I missed that post. Can you direct me to it?

Righto.

I was that 70 lb anorexic that I'm sure you've more than stared/gawked/whispered about. For years and years. I'm a "hefty" 90 lbs these days. I'm still worth staring at; I have hundreds of scars up and down my arms.

However, yes, when I get seated next to lady whose bulk does not allow her to put her purse underneath the seat, thus she feels entitled to put it /in my seat/...I get more than just a little bit frustrated. I paid for /my/ seat. Not for someone to have half of my seat!

Since I have dealt with my own eating disorder, I'm not a staring/gawking/whispering kind of gal. 'Specially since I get a few looks myself since I am at the other end of the spectrum (not extremely obese, but overweight). So I'm kinda sensitive to it myself. But assume what you wish about me.

And if you think overweight people actually enjoy sitting in those teeny tiny seats, knowing that what you and others in this thread have posted is going through your head (and probably worse, because we're really good at negative self-talk and can imagine what you are thinking)........ yeah, enjoy isn't the word I would use. We probably like it even less than you do.

You would think someone who has had an eating disorder would be a little more sensitive. But perhaps I should cut her some slack. She must still be dealing with the same issues that caused the disorder if she is so intolerant.
