But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I come from the midwest, and I tell you, many many of the folk here never drive more than two hours away from home, if even that. I learned in schools here as well, and we pretty much just brushed over world geography. I even grew up thinking of Canada as some "foreign" place, til I had been there. Was totally scared to travel there.

NOW, I have travelled a lot, and know US geography and quite a lot of world geography, but only becuz I have been to a lot of places. When I do travel, I have coworkers, friends, etc, that ask me "WHY?" They just dont get it. Its really kid of sad.

My hubby raised in Guyana has a wonderful grasp of world geography, and he only went to school til he was 14/15ish. He is a bit lacking in some other educational areas, but thats sure not one of them. He outdoes me every time in that regard.

When I was little, my favorite computer game was "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" You can bet I knew where Mali was, and Zimbabwe and Djibouti.

Yeah, ok, so I was a geek.

I loved that game too!!!!!!:lol:

I wonder though if this happens not only in the US, but everywhere in the world.

I don't know...... here in Brazil we do learn a lot about the world's history and geography (or at least we have the chance to learn when we pay attention  )!!! About 65% of my history and geography school books are not about Brazil.

OUR COMPLETE TIMELINE

Latest steps:

10/26/2006- Consulate receives case (seriously, one month to receive the case?? BS!), and packet 3 that I sent even before they had received the case.

01/23/2007- Second Interview. VISA granted!!!

01/29/2007- VISA arrived.... no envelope though. I'm gonna contact them and see what happened this time!

01/31/2007- I'll have to send them one last financial support evidence.

02/01/2007- Evidence sent

02/02/2007- Evidence received by Consulate

02/06/2007- Consulate sends envelope!

02/07/2007- Envelope received!!!

same here. I joined the navy at 18 and went from South Korea to Australia and everywhere in between. After I got out I had the travel bug so I travelled all over the other side of the world.

travel has priceless dividends.
