I'm a Japanese and my fiance and I are waiting for NOA2.

I need the police record for when it's time to have my interview.

My question is...

Does anyone know how to get New Zealand Police Record??

Will USCIS or the embassy give me any info about how to

and/or will they help me get police record?

Thank you :)

USCIS wont, but Department of State does have detailed directions in their reciprocity tables.

Police Records

New Zealand Police Headquarters will not accept requests for police certificates/records directly from individuals.

  • For Nonimmigrant Visa Applicants: Available through the Department of the Courts. The applicant should request the “Wanganui Computer Record” in writing, giving his or her full name, date and place of birth, sex, and nationality. The request must be signed and should be addressed to:

    Privacy Officer

    Department of the Courts

    P.O. Box 2750

    Wellington, New Zealand

Faxed requests are unacceptable. It takes approximately five working days from receipt of request for the Department of the Courts to issue a report.

  • For Immigrant Visa Applicants: Police clearance requests are processed by the Immigrant Visa Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Auckland. The Consulate General supplies New Zealand resident applicants with authorization forms. Overseas applicants should contact the U.S. consular office processing their cases to obtain a form authorizing release of police information. The authorization form should be completed, signed and returned to the processing consular post, who will then forward the request to the U.S. consul in Auckland for forwarding to the New Zealand police. The completed clearance will be returned to the requesting consular post, not to the applicant.

Note: K-Visa is NON-Immigrant, however the Immigrant visa unit of the Embassy or Consulate handles the case, so I would go with the Immigrant visa applicant directions.

Go to the New Zealand Ministry of Justice web site to get it. This is what my fiance did. For him however, the certificate that he received from New Zealand is useless. My fiance will be having his interview in Vancouver Canada. The consulate contacted him through mail to let him know that he would have to sign a third party request form. The consulate sent him this form in the mail. My fiance signed the release form, mailed in back to vancouver. Vancouver sends it to New Zealand, New Zealand sends the police certificate back to Vancouver. Takes approximately two months to receive the police certificate from New Zealand. We have our interview on 4/17. We are praying that the new zealand police certificate will make it back to Vancouver before the interview.

Good Luck!

Thank you so much, everyone

I'm still a bit confused about it.

Does it mean I have to wait until the embassy sends me the 'third party request form'

or should I ask the embassy for the form?

Could stephandmuz please tell me more in details about how your fiance got his?

Thank you :)
