Hello All,

I recently went to the DMV for a California ID card as i am not driving yet. The Lady at the counter said she will not be able to process my application for an ID because my I-94 has expired. I am getting ready to take my written test for my permit very soon and i will be running into the same problem again. Has anyone else had any experience of this? Can anyone help me in finding out how i am supposed to get an extension on my I-94?? I am in California

Thankyou guys in advance

Liam

Liam, why don't you just drive on your British license? That is what I am doing.

It sounds like Cali is the same as Oklahoma, they won't give you a drivers licence until you have the green card. Ladybutterfly lives in Cali and may be able to advise you better, but I'd use the Brit license in the meantime. The I-94 is not extendable.

Filed: Other Timeline

We are in exactly the same situation. Aidan didn't drive in Ireland, and is planning on taking the test for his permit soon. We just now sent in our AOS paperwork, even though his I-94 expired in February.

We do, however, have our NOA1's, so we'll try to use them to show that Aidan's not *really* out of status anymore.

But if it doesn't work, we're going to have to wait for Aidan's EAD.

Good luck! :luv:

The WV DMV wants to see the EAD before they will issue a license or id card. Actually, they require the passport, the visa and either a greencard or EAD. Plus a birth cert, two proofs of residence, our marriage license etc. Felt like another interview.

after being directed to several different agencies i manged to get some information!

Aparently i can begin the process of my licence with the Notice of action that i received for the AOS, but i will have to wait untill i get an EAD untill i can actually go in for written test.
