Eeeek!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

He's just lovely. He looks about the same size as the one I picked up and flung out of our driveway. They like to congregate around our little pond we have. I'm forever flinging them off our property because Javi won't touch them.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

A pond that attracts snakes? I'll have to have one! Although I may think differently if they were always around - probably become a nuisance.

I have (or had) a pet snake - still alive, but my mother's been looking after him ever since I moved cities. I never stay in one place long enough to take him back and now I'm emigrating. Beautiful, beautiful 12 year old corn snake.

I'm not sure it's the pond that attracts them. It's probably all the other animals the pond attracts that attracts the snakes. But yep, they are there. I don't really mind them as long as they don't bother me. Like I said, I just pick them up and fling them off the property. I'm sure they find their way back but at least I get rid of them for a little while. We usually have garter snakes and ring necks. As far as I'm told there aren't any poisonous snakes where I live and I've never seen any. So it doesn't bother me to pick them up. I played with them when I was a child. Never been scared of a snake but a spider gets anywhere near me and I'll freaking flip.

I'm the same - wouldn't think twice about picking up a non-poisonous snake but can't come within three feet of a spider! *shudder* Hurrah for irrational fears!

Oh me too- I have no problems with snakes (although I am more cautious here than back in Canada because we do have poisonous snakes in the area) but spiders - oh geeze - they have always been a major phobia for me. And now I have to worry because we have two poisonous spiders in the area as well! I can't let the cats enjoy playing with them anymore - I have to intervene and I end up shaking like crazy at the thought of having to deal with a spider. My husband is the reverse - he has no problems with spiders but he just can't deal with snakes. We agreed that if he protects me from the spiders I will protect him from the snakes.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

We have two types of poisonous spiders in this area too. It doesn't even matter though. If it's so tiny there is no way in he!! it could bite me I'm still terrified of it. I hate them, HATE them. Javi laughs at me because I'm so scared of them. He thinks it's hilarious to harass me with them after he's captured them. He will also avoid killing them just to see me squirm. It's not funny at all.

I love snakes as long as they are non-poisonous but yes spiders as well as centipedes, scorpions and wasps(yellowjackets) scare the %^&* out of me. No snakes in Hawaii but we used to have little geckos that would come in the house and eat the bugs - they freak some people out but I used to play with them.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
