We have filled for our visa at the VSC.

I just started putting all the docs together for the interview but I lost my Argentinian ID which I need for the police certificate and renewing takes from 8 months to 1 year.....what happens now? can the embassy hold on till I get all the docs? is there a limit of time? should we re apply next year? wouldnt it be a problem applaying again in less than 2 years? would it complicate things if we apply later? I dont know what to do....Im confused and I cant yet understand how a paper that usually takes two weeks suddenly will take almost a year to get because of the ID...Argentina's burocracy: banana country!

Well, you haven'ty gotten your NOA2 yet so, I would say see what you can do about getting the ID renewed. As far as packet 3 goes, I don't think there is a time limit to return what they need but you can check with your consulate for verification. Maybe they will be willing to give you a little more time to resolve the situation if they know your circumstances.

But, I think, the first thing to do is start the process to get that ID renewed. Then you can have something to show the consulate if they ask for it.

Good luck.

You do not need to start three topics on the same subject on three separate days.... Keep everything inside one thread and it will be more benneficial for you

YMMV

Who told you it takes that long? According to the website of the Ministerio del Interior de Argentina it only takes 15 days to get it renewed. Read here: Instructivo para Ciudadanos Nacionales: D.N.I duplicado y otros ejemplares.

If I were you, I'd call the listed number and get the right info. and start the renewal process right away.

I hope this helps!

Thats a lie! I was at the embassy yesterday! they tell lies in websites and then they tell you something different in person...I guess they are ashamed on how things occur over there!!! I just started and paid for the 8 months to one year process here in the Argentinean consulate in Israel. But thanks

I think you are right on target....maybe till my case leaves for the embassy it will take about 3-4 months...and they maybe they will be willing to hold on ...or maybe a congressman could help there a bit....yes it may be akay at the end after all...thank you!
