I love beets!!! My dad makes a mean beet soup...I forget the name for it but it's Polish and I think there's meat in it too and you add sour cream to it. YUM!

euwww...beet soup means that there is like..more than 2 little round disgusting red things in it...euwwwwwwwwww beets are naaaaaaaaaaasty.. whoever took a bite of a beet and said "mmm i'll eat that every day" was a sick sick person lol!!! J/K everyone is entitled to their own opinion....

on the other hand...maybe the taste of the beets is drowned by the soup so they don't really taste like beets at all... that, i could understand...

hehehe

We have a beet factory in Nampa and it stinks. Sometimes the wind will blow just right and you can smell Nampa in Boise. Edited by Olivia*

By the way, I think my son is darling too :) thanks!

Soda, hahaha I could go thru a 12 pack a day if nobody cared.. but usually no more than 3 or 4 sodas. (and I've cut back lol)

I have thought about multivitamins (i work in a pharmacy, i shoulda started them the second I felt wierd) but I've been too lazy to choose one. My appointment is Monday the 31st so we'll see what he says!

Good! now you can cut back to 2-3, then 1-2, then 0-1. I'm in the 1 a day mode. Even diet sodas are bad for the weight. Soda adversely effects your hydration, bones, and teeth, and the high fructose corn syrup sugars are wicked back for the diet. Fruit juice is also bad for the diet and teeth. Sigh.

let us know what you find out!

Bridget-- is it Borscht?

borscht is one of my FAVORITE soups. you can make it hot or cold. with meat or without. the jewish version is usually without meat because it is not kosher to eat meat with sour cream. but any of the variations I LIKE! especially with a huge dollop of russian village style sour cream! *DROOL*

its funny you guys are talking about beets. i just got off the phone with my husband and he said he tried a beet juice in casa today that was really good! he said the guy boiled the beets with orange juice and then blended it. weird but maybe?!

i made a salad for my lunch. yay! persian cucumber, tomato, red pepper, a few kalamata olives, mint leaves, bulgarian feta (a tiny drop!), sumac, lemon, and a drop of evoo. yum!

Are they making sugar?

I've heard of this before. it sounds weird because I associate beets with an earthen taste, but maybe if they used sugar beets?

Yeah, it's a regional dish. it's like how no one here has a monopoly on hummus or falafel, but I bet everyone's SO can tell you the one made in their area is the "best" or possibly the "origional." :)

This whole conversation about beets is really bringing this to mind (sorry I could only find a clip with subtitles that just showed this one thing):

I love raw beets !

I dunno about the party tonite. Im spiking a temp of 103 and having major pain. I have been in the bed all day. If I am up to sitting, I may pop in to fire off a few arrows at the Algerian Embassy.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Ibrahim and Lexy washing my car with dishsoap and my new dishtowels  Since there was no hose hooked up, they rinsed it by splashing it with buckets of water, using my spaghetti cooker :hehe: My neighbors were indeed entertained.
