DO CHILDREN ON PLANES BOTHER YOU??????????

I must be one of the lucky ones, children have never bothered me on a flight. Thankfully mine behave well, or I would do them in afterwards  I usually takes lots of things to occupy them, books, colouring books etc......in defense to the children who misbehave, they react to boredom and frustraion in a different way. There are times when I would love too scream in public! so leave the poor kids alone :crying:  and the anxious parents with them. There is nothing worse when a snooty moaner complains about a child crying, it's not like the parent wants that child to cry. :innocent:

Oops forgot to add the thing i hate about flying is flying!!!!!!!!! terrifies me :crying:

Moving to another city opens up a whole new world of Air Frances and British Airways.

Sister Fracas has her own airline? Sweet! :D

First time I flew to the UK, there musta been some snotnosed kid with chickenpox, cos a day or two after I got there, I was covered head to toe.

Actually, chicken pox has an incubation period of between 10-20 days so you couldn't have picked it up from a child (or anyone) on the plane...;)

sad sad sad... I would definately support a cabin for families if possible. the families need the relieved stress of not having to worry about other passengers and the children need to be children.

That's a wonderful idea. After all, families are paying too.

I dont like kids too much on planes...the first time i ever flew to america i was on my own, 18 and sat next to a baby and its mom who was continually breast feeding it! since then i check in online exactly 24hours before and get a good seat that is far away from where families would be, and i always get onto the plane right at the end - no need to wait in line standing up that way!

Really? She probably continually nursed because it eased the pressure on the babies ears, and prevented the baby from screaming the entire time. I find it interesting that this would bother anyone.

In general I don't mind kids on airplanes at all, but when I am flying long distance and I am tired and groggy myself and then I have to listen to a screaming kid for hours at a time..yeah, that would cost me some nerves too. But I would never say anything or be rude because I knw I will be in that position sometimes and I don't want to hear anything bad about my kid.

I absoutely agree. Children will cry sometimes. People need to get over it. There are rude and snotty adults and adults who talk loudly and snore and eat wtih their mouths open and smell bad and.....

I hope that none of the people who hate flying with kids ever have to fly with their own offspring :)

Alex,

REALLY?!?!?!!

NONE??? that sounds terrible.. HOWEVER, I dont feel that my elite status means so much with NWA as it does with partners such as KLM, etc... I always comment that when i do my normal route from ind-dtw-ams-sto that i feel like i am abused till i see the KLM staff in bule. Regardless, having priority check in, seating, the upgrades i know makes travel more pleasant than for the non elite member. I guess it is not till gold or platinum that you really get the gold carpet.

KLM actually lost my luggage a few months ago when my wofe and I were working in Nairobi and managed to deliver my luggage and MONETARY COMPENSATION to where were working, IN THE SLUMS OF KWANGWARE!!!!

That is definately something!!

Yet, NWA would not deliver my lost luggage to my Manhattan apartment because we don't have a doorman.

Alex - as a former resident of Detroit (the other Northwest hub), I feel the pain.

My favorite Northworst experience is when they told me that I "had to carry on" this package I wanted to check. I was dubious it would fit on the overhead but they assured me it would. I get to my seat - package does not fit in the overhead. Battle Axe Stewardess tells me this is "my fault" as I should have checked it and makes me hold it my lap the entire 4 hour flight.

I believe my parting shot to the Battle Axe was "no wonder you are in Chapter 11 if this is your attitude"

I was so furious after that flight I swore I'd never fly them again, even if it means paying twice the fare to get back and visit my mother

I guess I am lucky because my experience is usually the normal crying once in a while. Or little ones trying to walk up & down the aisle. To me, that's normal.

I usually got annoyed more by people who thinks they can share my space or my arm space with them. Or try to chit chat the whole 4 hrs flight.

Best flight experience was KLM from Jakarta to Amsterdam. I got business class seat although with economy food/service. I don't care about the food that much anyway. But the extra space was super nice.

Worst experience was NWA from Amsterdam to Boston. It was full, I sit next to somebody extra tall who was sneezing & coughing the whole time, the cabin crew was super loud the whole time they were chit-chatting with passengers. I caught the worst flu 4 days afterwards.

i actually had a 10 hour flight recently. There was a MENA dude and american wife. The dude and 2 of the young kids were in the row behind me. the wife and another child were in the row next to him across the aisle. The kids were out of control beating the sh*t out of my seat, slamming the tray table and STICKING THIER FINGERS IN MY EAR.... the dude didnt do anything. everytime myself or the person next to me seemed irritated the MENA dude said something to his wife and she had to take control. He refused to do anything. i felt so bad for the wife. i finally resorted to drinking a bunch of scotch and things didnt seem so bad. Funny thing, the wife and kids spoke 3 languages and dude could only speak his mother tongue.

sad sad sad... I would definately support a cabin for families if possible. the families need the relieved stress of not having to worry about other passengers and the children need to be children.

 sticking fingers on your ears.

I hate children.

I hate piss-poor parents worse.

Ban them all from planes, trains, movie theatres, restaurants, public, etc.......

You were a kid once too. :bonk: Its making me want to yell at their parents. Some parents aren't good in discipline, training, and teaching their children. I'm also a parent so i know whose fault unless if there's a problem with the child.

Don't you know its "child abuse " to isolated them. :bonk:

They pay for their kids to fly, just like anyone else. I'd rather have a kid by me than some fat, bloated adult any day.

Hate kids on planes that much, then hire a private jet, pay for first or business class or deal with it.

Please feel free to engage in an impossible act of self-copulation, prejudiced chopf##k

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I am quite happy to have children on a plane who are well behaved and quiet. I have developed a really good system for the little b**tards that scream the entire flight, kick my seat, throw food etc etc. I will raise a topic with the person I am travelling with that is not suitable for children. The parents suddenly become very interested in their child by distracting them from listening to me, and everything quietens down. It works every time. Generally, when I am travelling alone it is usually with work, so its business class and the children issue isn't really relevant thankfully. It really is up to parents to control their children. I know I was very well behaved in public when I was a child because I knew that my parents would give me hell if I wasn't. If a system works why change it? People are way too lenient with kids these days.

As for people who are carrying extra weight, I don't think I should have to have anyone share my seat who hasn't paid to do so, and which in turn gives me an uncomfortable flight. The answer may be to book two seats or as someone said earlier, have armrests that truly divide the seats. Everyone then gets equal space.
