Papers POE kept at JFK airport, are they needed to apply for AOS?

When my husband entered the U.S at the J.F.K. airport on 9-1-2007 the POE kept his papers that were in the sealed envelope and said that they will send it to him in a few weeks, we still have not received them. I was told that when we apply for his AOS he will need to send a copy of his medical exam that he had taken in Egypt, is that true? How do we obtain a copy of this now? Where do the papers actually go since we have not received them?

Thanks for any information that can be given.

If the K-3 works the same way than the K-1 in this matter, you don't need to worry about the papers in the sealed envelope. They are getting forwarded to wherever they need to be.

As far as your medical goes (and here I am not positive if the rules are the same), but when I came here and filed for AOS, I only needed the vaccination supplement form I-693a. I had a copy of my vaccination sheet from my medical exam, (that was the only thing I needed to have from my medical exam in Germany), took that to a civil surgeon and he transfered the info to the form. Thta was all I added to my AOS papers.

I am sure, someone will be able to correct me if I am wrong here and K-3 is a whole different world.

You wont be receiving anything from them. That package that you handed in was your complete file and gets sent to a holding facility and will wait to eventually meet up with your AOS when submitted.

You will probably need to do the vaccination supplement here through a US civil surgeon. All that requires is either a copy of the DS-3025 worksheet (vaccination one from the panel physician overseas) If you do not have this you can either redo the shots at any Doctor and take those to the CS, or have a titre test to prove that you have been vaccinated.

It is age specific and for most people only MMR, TD and varicela are needed.

For some offices here in the US they also require the TB skin test as opposed to the chest xray that was done overseas. (Due to some idiot flying all round the place with active TB last year). Do not do anything about this yet, just use the wait and see approach for this one as most people dont need it and only a couple of offices are ####### about it.

If your overseas medical was less than 12 months then you should not need a new full medical done only the supplement.

I 130 & I129F (K3) and AOS info in timeline

Thank you so much for the information. It's been over the 12 months since his medical exam was done. Do you know about how much it will cost to get the exam redone do u? When can we get it done and is there a specific place the exam has to be done at or can we have to have it redone by just go to my doctor since he does not have one here yet? As for the shots can we just have his mom and dad get a copy of his record from the physican overseas and have them send it to us?

Thanks,

:)

Was it 12 months by the time you filed? If your medical was less than a year old by the time you filed for AOS, you only need to submit the vacination supplement form I-693a.

No completely new medical exam needed.

But to answer your question: You would have to go to a civil surgeon who is qualified per USCIS...

THe costs vary from doctor to doctor, if you HAVE to get the medical done again, call all the CS in your area and compare prices.

yes he got his exam done in 2006 and then we were put on A/P after his interview, which was at the end of January of 2007. My husband then received his Visa at the end of Aug 2007 and we did not apply for the AOS yet. We only applied for the EAD, SSN and decided to wait til he got a job (which he now has.) So I take it that he will surely need another exam now? Once we apply for the AOS they will send us that list so we can make that appt right?

Thanks for the info it helped alot. :)
