Yodrak and others.

Hi everyone,

I have been away from this website for long time. Sklind, your declaration on is fine but you have to explain more how you met and started communication, before the actual physical meeting. I have my post here on our journey through the whole process. So you will be fine when you add the online meetings.

However, I wish to comment on Yodrak suggestion of retaining an attorney in Nigeria. That is totally irrelevant and may even jeopardise your case. Nigeria embassy lay more emphasis on your personal ability to proof your case rather than through an attorney.

Because, the embassy is concerned with your safety and how truthful is the fiance intention to marry you. A lawyer cannot proof that its him(the Nigeria fiance) and not even you. Adjudicating Officer will strive to find this fact of his intention during the interview. You cannot not proof what is in his heart. My dear it is difficult for you to do that. Of course the meeting and the joy and witness will be there when you arrived Nigeria. But what is in the heart? You cannot uncover until long time later.

I say this because its very sad how my country folk behave all in the craze for a GC! After my arrival here other readers of this site have followed my way. I received emails and phone calls offering advises. About three couples succeeded. But can you believe that out of these three others. I am the only one still trully in marriage till date? Those others marriages have broken up. ......the sunny&ruthan, rotimis, afrodikes and so on. Make a research. I am not trying to expose anyone but....the truth has to be told. If he is truly the one for you good luck. Getting over here is one thing and staying in marriage truthfully is another. Good luck to you. Please you don't need any lawyer.

JJ

Well JJ i would like to add that many of us here (married to Nigerians) are very much still in love and still married to that same Nigerian. So you are not still "trully" the only 1 here in marriage. I got married shortly after u guys and my husband and I are still married and am very much still in love. And another thing, it's not very nice that u put other people's names out there like that.

Sweetee

JJ:

BTW; u should come over to the African Sub Saharan forum and u will find that many of us are still 2gether.

This question has always brought a lot of debate. I used a service for our petition, and I explained how we met online and how we continued to communicate and she invited me to visit her to see how our feelings were after meeting. My lawyer stated that they are not askink how you can meet, as this is one of the questions usually at the interview, but they are asking how you met physically. We stated on our petition that I met her when visiting Vietnam, because this is actually when we first met in person. One thing they did tell me is the fact that the more information you give them the more chance of raising red flags. I would suggest be short and direct to the point. Good Luck

sklind,

Note that I suggested consultation, I did not suggest hiring. Although, after reading the Administrative Review threads here on VJ and having the consultation, you may decide to hire.

Rhetorical question - if you don't have the money to retain an immigration attorney do you really have the money for life after immigration?

Yodrak

Lots of people can live on, say, $2000/month, but they cannot afford to doll out $2000 for (possibly) unnecessary legal services.
