Ok.. i know i've read this here and there but Kris wanted me to see if i could find this in writing. For him.. he is wanting to do his medical the same day as his interview mainly because of the costs of getting there and back is alot for him as well as paying for everything else. Is there anything out there that says that it is allowable to do this on the same day?? Kris is big on having everything in writing LOL :innocent:

Hi Robyn

As far as I understand if the medical results are not with the embassy at the time of the interview they will not confirm the visa approval.

Hope this helps

It is fine to have them on the same day - I haven't booked my medical yet and intend to do the same thing myself :)

All that will happen is that the visa will be approved pending medical results which will reach the embassy about four days later, then they will send the visa back to him :)

I am going to book my med as soon as I get my interview date - I am going to try for the same day or the ady before/after so I can just make one trip to London :)

Yep. Fine. Ive planned the exact same thing also. Have interview at 9.30 on 9th April, then the medical at 2.30- the woman at the medical office said it was quite common to do things this way

You just need to make sure that after your interview you ask for a certified copy of your passport as the embassy keeps your passport for your visa (pending medical results) but you 'need' your passport for the medical....but in these cases the certified copy suffices.

Thats kind of what i told him. He's hoping for a late April/early May interview if he can get it. An extra 4 days for official approval wouldn't be a big deal since he wouldn't come out till the first of June anyway. He just wasn't sure if there was anything listed 'official' anywhere LOL

My husband had his medical and interview the same day. As Aly mentioned, the Embassy told him he was approved pending medical results. It takes about 4 business days for the results to get to the embassy. It just takes a few days longer to get the passport returned. He interviewed & had medical on a Monday, and the following Tues had his passport with visa. Its no biggie at all.

thanks so much everyone. He's a bit OCD when it comes to having EVERYTHING in writing... its so cute sometimes LOL

I'll let him know that though there is nothing 'in stone' it can be done LOL

The medical is done in a different place to the embassy and the results take a few days to get to the embassy, if you have your interview before the results have reached the embassy, they may approve you subject to medical results.

and if you get your medical done four days or more before the interview and pass it then yes - your visa is approved right away - you just have to wait for them to mail it to you ;)

Well, there still could be other grounds for denial. They do complete a fingerprint background check after the interview. So, while you'll most likely be approved, there are still occasional denials out of London. And there is the occasional Administrative Processing whcih can take anywhere from weeks to months. Again rare, but still possible.

just out of interest, when was the last VJ denial through London? how would I find this out?

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I'm not sure when the last one was, or how to determine that here on VJ. But I have read about a couple denials. One that sticks out was where the UK fiance had plead guilty to exporting marijuana. He'd been in a car on a ferry with a friend and they were caught. It was his friends stuff, apparently. The police said it would be easier to make a quick deal, which he did. He though he plead guilty to possession. Sadly, it was not as cut and dried as he thought. Denied and no waiver could save him.

I'm just pointing out that there is always a possibility for a denial. Rare yes, but there simply are no guarantees.

There was a member over at the brit expat forum that got a denied last year because of a criminal record. I can't find the thread in question, but I'm sure it was drugs related.
