On our trip back there we took all the men jogging suit sets, pants and tops. For the girls I made these gift sets wrapped in crinkly basket wrap paper. In the gift sets I put bath and body lotion and body wash, a scrunge sponge, and lots of mary kay samples of lipstick, eyeliner in various colors, eye makeup, mascara, lotions, etc. For all the little girls we took american barbies and barbie clothes. For the little boys we took remote control cars with batteries and for the preteen boys we took hand held computer games. All of these were big hits! Just a suggestion!

good luck finding your gifts!!!

more suggestions, we took a puzzle of the united states for them to do. I also took a monopoly board game.

Maybe you can find a photo book of your city or your state. If not, maybe you could make a photo book of your city,

family etc.

Hope these help!

you know what people have asked for? a big bottle of tylenol .

omg I gave my husband tylenol when he had a huge headache and you'd think I had just made the sun rise or something!!! rofl...hours upon hours of him tying a hijab wicked tight around his head and drinking some lemon tea and I was like, here try this and voila in 20 minutes no more headache!

I forgot about the Excedrin. They all loved it and now I"m always sending huge bottles of it back. He's like a drug dealer...passing it around the family... .

Candy - dried fruits....

Actually, candied fruits are a great idea too!

Like candied pineapple and ginger...I have also had candied, dried melon once (in Malaysia) it was fantastic. In Malaysia and Bangkok there are these Malaysian fruit sellers and they sell:

Dried:

strawberries

plums

mango

pineapple

whole dried lemons (they shrink to mouth size)

dried orange

dried papaya

and all sorts of exotic dried fruits

Monopoly??? A good idea...

What other games would be good??

Monopoly is good. Any other ideas for games?

the philippines has the BEST dried mango. if you have a costco in your area they sometimes sell a giant bag of it. but make sure to get the filipino kind! other brands i've tried were not as good! as far as other dried fruits besides tropical i wouldn't bother because i would guess iran has all that already! especially dried lemons (they use that in iranian cuisine) but if its candied maybe not?

as far as games? I LOVE this game called "the settlers of catan". my friends and i are absolutely addicted! or jenga? or some playing cards?

I took a couple of bags of Hershey's Kisses. Handed them out where ever I went. Big hit with everyone and very American. Kids love them. That is kind of a random thing. I also sent over wind chimes from a Florida artists that had dolphins on them. Huge hit with her mother. I have seen orniments that are not chimes but flash in the light when the wind blows. Really cool. Should get one myself. I am always sending care packages of foo foo coffee (flavored coffee from Wal-Mart) also a huge hit. They have lots of regular coffee but the flavored kind is a luxury. T-shirts of the touristy type, Florida, Dollywood etc. Hope that is helpful.

I completely understand the agony of being separated for a long time but I would think twice about moving to Iran while bonehead is still in office. Just a thought...

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

::There’s a laugh in my eyes::

There’s a waltz in my walk

And it’s been such a long time

Since there was hope in my talk

If you never knew

What it is that’s new.. it’s you

‘Cause when your hands are in mine

You set a fire that everyone can see

And it’s burning away

Every bad memory

To tell you the truth

If it’s something new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

The world’s a different place

Where nothing’s too hard to say

And nothing’s too hard to do

Never too much to go through

To tell you the truth

Everything that’s new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

My life, my life

Ohh

So if I get to grow old (oh if I get to grow old)

With many years behind me (many years behind me)

There’s only one thing I want (aahh)

One thing I need beside me

For all that you are

For everything you do

For all that you’ve done

Just for showing me the truth

lol...yeah, at first, when the professor was explaining it we were all like :huh: dduuuhhhhh!! ...lol! haha...but after a while, we got really into it and when he told us we had 10 minutes to clean up, we were like "5 more minutessss, pleeeeeease!!" hahaha....definitely took me back to elementary school..hahaha.....but yeah, he thought it tied into all the theories we learned about and stuff...definitely a cute idea and it was a nice change from the normal, boring as ever, labs that we usually do...

but, i did consider buying the game... :)
