Just wanted to shine the spotlight on those who have been waiting in AP for over 1 year, not matter what the consulate. I know of the ones going through Egypt but are there others who are going through other MENA countries as well?

My prayers are with you all every single day that a phonecall will come stating that the visa is in hand. You all are so very strong and incredible I don't know how you do it. I know some have stopped posting and I can only imagine it is because of the pain of seeing those after you get their visas time after time again with no word on your own case. I hope you all find your answers soon. (F)

I am just curious.......what were you told at the interview? Like Ahmed was told we were approved and should get visa in 2 to 3 weeks and we are in week 7 now. SO what exactly were you told during your interviews?

I pray each of you get good news soon.

Thanks Bridget, I was thinking of posting something like that myself.

My prayers are with each and everyone on the list.

Be sure that it will happen someday insha Allah. Prayer and Patience is the key. NEVER give up!! If you need anything, I'm just a message away. May Allah bless you and make you stronger each day, Ameen.

This part goes to the one I have spoken with (AJ1), but it extends to all the others that are waiting: You are stronger than you think, because you survive each day, and I'm soooo proud of you. Everytime you wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and you'll see a survivor. The process drains us to a point where we think we can't function anymore, but you don't realise that you ARE functioning still. Your heart is still beating, you're still breathing, and you're still praying, so YESSSSSS you are stronger than you think.

I'll be with you in these now hard times, and I'll be with you when you post Visa In Hand, insha Allah it will be soon.

Love always,

Ayesha (F)

I know we didn't have AP and my response may not be welcome here, but from what I can tell they say that to most people.

I think they tell that to everyone they don't tag for further investigation and home visits. Then after that it's up to how long your security checks take. Some expire in 3 months, and if one takes too long they have to redo all of them, ect. Then if security checks take too long, Cairo has to request new documents. They then check for any new hits or to make sure no security checks are expired before they issue the visa.......... And this is for cases they approve no problems. I think it also depends on who you interview with, bc they seem to be in charge of your case until the visa is issued.

That's my new theory based on the fact that my husband seems to clear all security checks in 1-2 days and we have been getting all paperwork amazingly fast (including green card) almost as soon as it's touched. I really think it's the extra security checks they order for MENA men :(

My heart goes out to all of those waiting so long. You all are amazingly strong and incredible people. I pray daily that you may see an end to your waiting soon. (F)

Some of the delays are simply due to incompetence on the part of Cairo. I have heard of all sorts of mistakes handling cases (paperwork errors on the part of the consulate -- totally unrelated to the security checks -- that they repeatedly didn't catch.) Some of these have set people back months, even years.

Hopefully there is a new wind blowing through Cairo, as we have seen a lot of activity from them so far this year, and especially this month.

Praying for everyone to get their visas very, very soon.

his interview was April 25, but remember they start the security checks when they receive the packets which would have been February 2007 to "ideally" have all the security checks completed other than the fingerprints (which take about one day) when the interview is conducted.

Anyway as he put it he paid $25 a minute for the interview and was told the security checks would take about 3 months.

Almost a year later and we are still waiting.

I know his resolve is still strong but his mom is determined to find him a wife. He will be 36 this year and never married. She hopes if she can find a good, young, muslim woman he will forget about coming to the US.

Oh dear God, Please let it be finished soon.
