I have another question on the I-129F.

I was born abroad and my mother (a U.S. citizen) reported my birth to nearest consulate when I was a baby. My birth certificate is a U.S. certificate for a birth abroad. However, question 10 asks for my certifcate number. I spent 15 minutes looking at my birth certificate yesterday and there is no number on there. Can I state there is no certificate number for this question and send in a copy for back-up purposes or do I need to obtain a new birth certificate?

Thank you.

If you look at the example form in the tab at the top of the page........the certificate number it is requesting is if one is using a naturalization certificate to show US citizenship.

Thanks for replying. If you look right underneath of it, there is a space to mark if you gained citizenship through your parents, which is my case, since I wasn't born in the U.S. or any of its territories. If you mark "Yes", then it asks you for a certicate number.
