Go MSP! That must be why Rey thinks New York is SO dirty. Even though he's from Sao Paulo.

Come on it is but I would say more run down, much makes it look dirty. You have subway stations that have not been upgraded since they where built.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

why is the title of this thread 'cleanest us cities' if the thread is not about that??

i would agree that nyc is definitely NOT one of the cleanest us cities, but as far as culture goes, i dont think its even in the same class as many of the other cities listed  thats my humble ny opinion of course :D

i wonder how this would vary if it polled people from other countries who have visited the us

I'm not too sure I agree with the Washington, D.C. ranking.

they must clean up the dead bodies pretty quick over there.

I was thinking of all the urine smells coming from the parks. You have a good point as well.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

The problem is actually that it IS dirty. A very dirty city.

I've only been to about 7 cities on the list, so I can't say anything about most of them. I do know, having been to Jamaica, I can't imagine any of them could be dirtier then what I have seen. Funny how your perception changes over time.

Yes it is. And smelly too - with the sewer-steam coming out of those drains. When I used to take the train in I would make a point of avoiding 32nd street and Korea town - the restaurants dump their kitchen trash on the sidewalks. Its ripe at the best of times... but in summer

I don't see how it couldn't be dirty. After taking into account there are so many people packed into a relatively small space (the most heavily populated areas of New York aren't the most expansive) and that the state itself and many of the structures are old, you're going to have a fairly filthy -- and sometimes smelly -- combination.

That doesn't mean New York is bad; far from it. But with that many people, it's not always going to be the most pleasant place to live.

They MUST mean Charleston WV and not SC

I think St. Augustine, FL should be ranked in the top 10, what a nice place...maybe the cities on the list have a minimum population. Jacksonville is pretty nice.

Augusta, GA should be ranked like #10,000 ... what a sad city :(
