What service center are you filing at? How is the embassy in Jamaica on timeline and approvals? If it is a good efficient embassy I highly recommend the I130/CR1.

Right now none can get an approved I129F/k3 out of the Vermont service center, but Cali service center are approving the I129F right along with the I130 approval. The I129F does save you 2-3 months at the NVC, but the Cr1/I130 your petitioner will come to the US with a temp Green card able to work right away.

The I129F petition will cost you another $1000+ in Adjustment of Status fees and EDA.

Your embassy time line should help you make the decision. My husbands embassy takes about 7-8 months for I130/Cr1 interview and most go into AP. Although, for a I129F/K3 interview it takes just 2 months for an interview appointment.

Best wishes either way you go! There are pros and cons to both ways. I am with you though the quicker the better!

Hi Jamericanlove, personally I would send in both the I-130 and I129F and see which one gets approved first before making any decisions. Remember you have the military expedite golden ticket, so your approval should come through pretty fast for whichever they offer you.

Please don't worry at this stage about the standard 6 months for approval of I-130 as you should know within a few days of whether they'll expedite you ..... and deployment equals expedite.

If you're worrying about the NVC and Consulate stage of the process, once you get to the NVC you should also be able to get an expedite on your interview with the consulate as they tend to have a department which deals with military.

I was advised that once my case gets to the NVC that I am to ask for a faster interview time due to being military .... this information was given by the Immigration Officer my USC Husband spoke to on the special Military Immigration Helpline.

Just get a copy of those orders, and apply for your expedite. You want a CR1/IR1 in the end anyway, and as you're able to jump the wait times, I'd go for gold.

Goodluck with getting the paperwork together, I'm still trying to find out the stuff for the AOS you've asked for on our thread. But in the meantime, just get your approval and by then you should know what needs to be sent next.

If you have the military imminent deployment expedite option, I agree. If you want an immigrant visa, don't file an I-129F.l

Hi Pushbrk, the deployment apparently doesn't have to be imminent ..... as long as there are deployment orders, then a military expedite can be applied for ..... yes, even mid-deployment.

This was discussed and confirmed in the Military Spouse thread .... there have been spouses who have got their expedite while their partners were already in Iraq, which is great, but they have to apply specially and make it an obvious expedite application ..... and not just assume the people who open the packets at Chicago know what they're doing.

There is some really helpful information on there left by those who have applied for expedites.

I really hope this information helps other military spouses in the future who think they cannot apply for the expedite as their partners have already left.

It has been done, and therefore can be done again.

NO NO NO NO NO! The I-129F is not a back-up. It is your message to USCIS that you want a K3 visa and will adjust status after arrival.

If you want an immigrant visa, DON'T FILE AN I129F!
