Hi

I used a lawyer to file my petitions, she turned out to be the most irresponsible person ever, well my I-130 got approved and I DON"T WANT HER TO BE MY AGENT, i want my husband , will it cause any trouble if i e-mail the NVC telling them that i want my husband to be my choice of agent since i used a lawyer to file this petition?

Thanks

NO it won't. In fact I did the very same thing. AND I didn't tell my lawyer( who was absolutly worthless). I also sent my lawyer an email firing her. So have your husband email the NVC and make you the agent. It is that simple!!!

A quick question on this - NVC just assigned my case a number. Can I email them now telling them that I want to be the agent? I think the forms are in the process of being sent to my lawyer now as my case has been there for 2 weeks. I just don't want to mess anything up.

I just had correspondence with NVC and their reply was " If you no longer wish to utilize this attorney as your representative, please contact the NVC in writing." Seems to be an easy task.

You will be fine. Just inform NVC by emailing them.

Not yet, first find out, if NVC generated Choice of Agent, DS 3032 form and AOS Fee Bill. As soon as they are generated, you can email NVC.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
