I just received my IL on 07/18/08! I am so excited! My interview is scheduled on 09/09 in Portland, OR. It is set-up for 8am so, if everything goes well (I am keeping my fingers crossed), I hope to take the oath the same day as so many on this board did. I will let you know how it goes. I am so happy for all of you who have already passed. Congrats!

My friend finally has her interview letter, and it is on 10 September at 1pm.

Apparently when the letter was sent to her, it wasn't delivered, so was returned to USCIS, who then called them. There was no explanation of why the letter couldn't be delivered, so the USCIS sent it again and it was received ok this time.

I've told her that she won't have the oath ceremony that day, as her interview is too late in the day. I'll keep you posted on her interview. Meanwhile all the best to all of you who have their interviews coming up.

Hi All

I thought I would let everyone know that I passed my citizenship interview on 9/17/08. It was painless and took only about 20 minutes. The officer went over my application with me to ensure that it was accurate. I was then asked to read a sentence and write a simple sentence. She then asked me about 5-6 civics questions from the list that was given to me in the booklet. After successfully answering the questions she congratulated me and told me that I had passed. I took the oath ceremony the same day and am now officially an American Citizen.

Good luck to everyone.

Go Buckeyes.

My interview was succesful as well. Sorry it took me so long but for anyone going to the Portland, OR office for their interview, know that they are super nice and when you do have your interview early, you can have the oath the same day.

That is what happened to me and I asked for my passport right when I left the office. I received my passport by mail about 10 days later and I went to the Social Security office 2 weeks later to update my profile.

I am official now and I am glad the process is over.

The icing on the cake for me was that I was able to vote as well!

Good luck to all of you out there seeking the citizenship!

I would also like to chime in a bit of my experience in PDX and hope it may benefit others in the future.

Checked in about 15 mins before my appointment time. The waiting room is at the end of the hallway of which I went through the security. Called in shortly afterward. Officer politely explained the process as we walked back toward his office. Checked my DL, passport & GC, then onto the test. First the oral test, then written test and finally the civic questions. After that, he started reviewing the N400 application and confirmed the information on the form with me. He fiddled with few forms and the keyboard, then the big approval stamp was on one of the forms. Asked if I want to take the oath the same day. Came back in the afternoon 5 mins before the oath. Barely catch the group going upstairs for the ceremony. Handed over the oath form & my green card. Led into another room and then 20 mins later I am officially a US citizenship.

In summary, I thought the IOs, both my interview officer and oath officers were exceptionally friendly and sincerely happy for us. If only there are more people like them in this world, we wouldn't be so stressful in our lives. So hats off to them.

Glad to see few people came with their family to witness the moment. I didn't ask anyone to come with me. I was hurrying to get back to work.

Hope this helps.
