Aryan Guard celebrates White Pride World Day in Calgary

The average 'white' Euromutt in America far removed from his or her European forbears(and I count myself as one) grows up with no sense of pride or culture apart from American mass-produced #######. This is especially true of Hawaii, where the contrast is extreme. I grew up surrounded by Japanese, Hawaiians, Filipinos, et al. all defined by their ethnicity and celebrating it, while I had nothing to turn to except MTV and bland 'haole' food. I can understand why Obama turned towards maybe some more militant 'black pride' sentiments after leaving Hawaii - there is as little black identity in Hawaii as there is white identity - blacks are treated culturally as whites are in the rest of America, as having no culture really worth mentioning.

Yet other 'minority' groups often call foul and use the term 'cultural appropriation' when Euromutts adopt more vibrant aspects of their cultures such as dress, speech, and sometimes religion - food is somehow exempt and to a lesser extent music. 'Minorities' can wear 'white' clothes or speak the Queen's English with impunity and they are stealing nothing from us, because such things are considered 'mainstream'. Yet if a white person wears a dashiki or a saree or speaks Hawaiian Pidgin sometimes they get flak or stink-eyes for it. Double standard? I read an article in the Honolulu Advertiser about a Samoan guy who was a top-notch bagpiper, very much into Scottish culture, participated in the Highland Games, wore a kilt at times - I wonder if he was ever accused of 'cultural appropriation'?

What I am saying is if a white person grows up in an atmosphere of 'minority pride' where he is seen to have no culture, many times either he or she will gravitate towards another more vibrant culture(Asian, Latino, African-American) and get flak from members of that culture OR alternatively get into the 'white pride' movement, because what are the alternatives, eat mayonnaise sandwiches on white bread and listen to Clay Aiken? Riverdance??? Get sh!tfaced drunk like some members of my Irish-American family?

I am not trying to generalize, step on anyone's toes or start a flame war, I can only speak from my own experience growing up as a 'white' American. I can see how a feeling of lack of positive ethnic identity in an atmosphere where ethnic identity is seen as important could lead someone to these movements. This is a topic I have thought about and am curious about other's opinions.

Anyone on this board should "get" that the Aryan Guard is all about promoting an all white society. We all should find that repugnant, but I'd think the USCs with non-white spouses should find it even more disturbing.

ok, it may be silly, but what I'm saying is that whites DO celebrate the accomplishments of other whites. It is just more noticeable to have a Black history month, when the white celebrations are celebrated across the entire calendar. There is also Hispanic history month in September.

What white celebrations?

The only holidays I have are

New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as

Martin Luther King, Jr Day ("black") and Columbus Day ("white")

Seems pretty balanced to me.

I'm not specifially meaning federal holidays. I dunno about where you live but every weekend from the end of May until the beginning of October here is sprinkled with some sort of ethnic 3-4 day festival....sometimes multiple festivals on the same weekend. Irish, Italian, Polish, German, Swedish....those ARE predominately white countries are they not?

Oh and I DID already give you an example of an actual holiday that is observed to celebrate the accomplishments of white Polish military hero, Casmir Pulaski.

Let's just say that 'white' pride is some legitimate aim. Show me one group that promotes purely cultural activities that has 'white' pride as it's center piece? All I have seen under the 'white pride' banner is 'white supremacy' activists. However, I am quite prepared to look at something that proves otherwise to facilitate those who argue that it's a legitimate phenomena.

Regarding biggotry and racism from outside the 'white' community. Of course it happens, who's denied it? However, to suggest that it is endemic is equally facile. The Rev Wrights of this world are the exception, not the rule.

That is not the point. For a system to work you have to hold every single individual accountable to the same standard. The fact is that currently in America Caucasians cannot get away with anything close to what someone black can say about them. So if someone white in the media said "black bitches and hoes" they would be fired. Yet if someone black said the same thing about white women they would receive a slap on the wrist, if that.

So then why are African Americans more likely to receive heavier prison sentences for equal crimes committed by white Americans?

When black folks subject white folks to 2 centuries of slavery plus another century and a half of general discrimination because the white folks are destroying the fabric of America, then I'm sure we'll have a reversal of the whole argument and criticize black pride as something racist in concept and practice.

I'm not criticizing black pride, but if black people can be "proud" of what their "race" has

accomplished (which I believe to be a silly concept - what does a random black person

have to do with the accomplishments of Martin Luther King, Jr - other than the fact that

both happened to be black?), then white people can be proud of their race's accomplishments
