I think it is actually very interesting...... as an Italian citizen I thank you for posting the info!

BTW, this is an immigration website so there are a lot of people from countries other than the US..... so I think it's prefectly normal to post things that don't have so much to do with the US. Or now we can only post about what USCs care about?

Lots of about there in the last sentence....... lol...... I've been awake for 30 hours now...... give me a break :P

For anyone who doesn't know about Italian politics, IT IS A DISASTER.

Honestly, I think he's the best leader Italy has had in many years, even though that doesn't say much. Italy is not the US, UK or Australia and politics don't function the same way-- The institution is not as fully democratic from the start with lingering effects of fascism and communism, but he's not the one threatening Italian democracy or justice. It's the attempts at coup d'etat via the judiciary, and the hysterical propaganda associated with that.

I wouldn't be running out into the street singing ALLELUIA because you have no idea what comes next. Nothing is quick in Italy--an Italy that needs LOTs of changes.

Ace, I studied Italian politics in Italy and Berlusconi's government certainly was not the best leader that Italy has had...not at all. What he managed to do is to market his Forza Italia party very well to the point where he had both houses of Parliament...this then allowed him to stay in power for his whole term. Don't equate staying in power with being a good leader....why do you think that they had to pass the par condicio law? I lived in Italy under d'Alema's administration and under Berlusconi's and let me tell you, there was definitely a difference....
